On a side note: Bioware, word of advice, concentrate on story and entertainment. I.E. Jokes/Drama/Action/Etc.
I say this because items and loot will NOT, I repeat WILL NOT carry you through in keeping interest in future DLC sales.
I second that, especially since it's no MMO - there is no competition, I "beat" the game anyway, a different colored sword won't make any difference at all...
Quite a few people will try Mass Effect 2 soon, here in Europe Drakkensang 2 will be released - and while most people i know liked DA, they need something solid then to come back.
That said, looking forward to RtO, and already bought Bioware Points

to all that are saying the content doesn't equal the price, did you ever think of the fact that they need to pay thier dev's, fund future dlc's, keep up the quality of which they are done ( voice actors aren't cheap, especially celebrity ones, like Tuvok as the Keeper and so on) the price may be 5 dollars, and the dlc is estimated at 1 hour for average players
do not generalise please, the price may be 5 dollars for you, in my country howver products are very expensive, it's different for everyone. for me the amount of content vs price is to low/high. I had to pay in dollars however the price would be fine. that aside, i do still thinkthey are compensating, as the dev has said...they wanted to lower the price atfirst...most likely meaning content after RTO will be less compared to the prices of earlier dlc.....I'm fine with the price for RTO don't get me wrong, just think wardens keep is worth lower, but do not care as I got much dlc free, though pity the ones who have to pay over 10 dollars for a character and half an hour quest (despite getting exclusive storylines more, it looks like this content was mostly already in game, just not unlocked yet...)

I'm assuming just buy through the BioWare store, but Steam in-game overlay has a DLC tab and sometimes DLC for games appears in the Steam store.

I need more content fast, seriously, I'm getting the shakes. Release dlc with more mages too, the two annoying npc ones just are not enough. And new robes, I've worn these from soldiers peak like ages. Getting stinky.

As much as everyone here seems to be complaining and pissing and moaning, I bet everyone in this thread will buy the dlc. People really need to STFU and be thankful, because I'm sure if Bioware didn't release ANY dlc, someone would have a conniption.
Thank you for finalizing the release date, looking forward to more nuggets from you guys at Bioware.
That reminds me of the groups at the Steam forums set up to boycott MW2 because of the lack of dedicated servers. Day after release, what are they playing?

you wanna talk value vs cost?
Go to WalMart, get a jar that will make 20 pots of Coffee, for 5 bucks, go to starbucks and get one tall cup of coffee, for 5 bucks.
Hum and people do this everyday, I know my wife works at a starbucks.
The thing is people, 5 bucks, we wipe our ass with five buck on a day to day bases and don't even notice it.
So for some content that we will play over and over again even if its only an hour, I know Ive played the DLC every run Ive made in the game.
Point is,if it was any less than 5 bucks than it wouldn't be worth putting up

When Bioware then tries do something about this, another (fan)group complains...
The saying 'you can't please everyone at the same time', must be true, then I'd guess.

And you don`t have to buy the dlc, if you think its to expencive.
My opinion is that it is a really cheap dlc. Most map packs ect. on xbox live are double if not triple the cost of RTO.

I've had my 400 points waiting since they announced it. (£3.40 = Peanuts). I suspected it might be late so no real dis-appointment there. (Had other xmas presents to amuse me)
I just hope they've added some more classic Duncan one-liners is all...

We can argue a lot of reasons to buy it..or not to buy it..but cheap?. Could you argue me why is cheap?.
Lets see:
The original game gives you X hours of game, and cost Y € (or $ or..). You have the cost for every hour.Im absolutly sure that in original game, the cost per hour is a lot lower than any DLC.
More important. develpment of game motor, design, advertising costs..and more and more than DLC havent. And you say that is cheap?...<_<
I can understand people who says, "hey, i dont mind giving 5-10$ for 1 hour game"..but please, dont say me ..that is cheap., because that is a lie.

Enough with the crap about the poriginal cost and gave whatever ....its old news and cannot be compared in the same way.
It is cheap because over here in the UK, its half the price of watching a film, cheaper than a pizza, the price of a good coffee in a nice shop, 4 times less than some DVD's....
So in that, it is very well priced, cheap to me (imo based on above) and will give more hours enjoyment (replayability) than any of the other things I mentioned.
So yes its cheap. Also your argument is old, pointless and irrelevent. It cost me £78 to get the CE from America....mayny frieinds laughed at me, now after over 200 hours play time, its actually not cost me much per hour has it (based on your calculations)....so a lilttle more for an hours play....which will actually turn out to be 1 hour x 5 characters (at the moment) makes it incredibly cheap entertainment for me.
Or maybe, in order to reduce the cost of any further DLC, you perhaps think that Bioware should just have one big area with random respawning mobs, no voice work or anything else that actually takes time = hourly pay for someone?
get real, buy it, don't, but dont moan about cost (are you in America? Americans moan a lot about cost, when its one of the cheapest countries to live in, try living over in the UK; THEN moan about what things cost).
Rant over!

xka,

Crap?...we are discussing about if its cheap or not, and you say that economic and production arguments are crap?..go to see a doctor.

And that is sometype of argument?. Hoy you can compare a DLC whith a produc like a pizza or movie or,... if you want to compare with something, my good, do it with THE ORIGINAL GAME. Tell me, if you say than a DLC like this is cheap comparing with pizzas, movie, ..or whatever you want, tell me, how much should cost the original game that gives you lets say 200 hours of fun?...300 €?, 400?

Don make me lauhg. I live in spain, going to cinema can cost you 5€, there is no diference because in spain, salaries ar lower..but this is irrelevant:
- Has DLC distribution costs like pyshical support?..the final vendor profit?, transport?..NO. Manuals?..NO
- Has DLC heavy programation changes is software?..NO
- Has DLC the necessary cost of the initial promotional campaing, when launching a new game?..NO.
- Has DLC the cost of desingn, graphics... of the original game?..NO.
BUT, we have a product that with so less cost than original game, cost in proportion is a lot a lot more
If you think that a DLC should be compared with other services (pizza, movies...) i think you are absolutely missed and mistaken. And i repeat, i respect anyone who want to buy it, but i say, dont joke me, dont sell me saying that is cheap..

I've enjoyed every DAO DLC so far and RtO will be no different. I'll also buy any upcoming DLC because I simply love this game.
I only hope, that Bioware and EA will release a GotY or "whatever" edition with all of the DLC on a solid disc someday because I'm not really a fan of downloading stuff...

With that i don't see future for this game
it will be forgotten asap when ME2 will be new cashcow.
(sarcasm) yeah, i mean, the dlc will come out just one week after the holidays and that is the nail in the coffin. oh please, 1 week of delay is enough to say there is no future for this game?... ARE YOU SERIOUS!? (please tell me you're joking)

Looks great! Will it be fully voiced? And, what part of the Holiday season will it come out in?
~ Roxy:happy:
Apparently, in Biowares universe, the 'holiday season' is when it is over. Either that or they use the Gregorian Calendar. Meanwhile in mine it means "during" the holidays, not after kids have gone back to school.
