I suspect it would take a typical first-time player about an hour to complete.
There will be outrage.
Not from me, but from all the people that thought Wardens Keep was a rip-off and whatnot.
Yup. The unanimous feedback from players on Warden's Keep was that it was too short. They're coming back with DLC that is equally short. Not good although it is $2 cheaper.

Sorry, no waffles but there will be some voicework, including from the followers. We put a particular focus on the various followers who were also present at the battle.
Looks good.
hmm. Party = PC, Alistair, Wynne, Morigan, maybe dog but he don't speak:(

Ouch. It will be tough to justify a $5 expenditure on 60 minutes of gametime. I was hoping for 2-3.
I spend that amount of cash on a cup of coffee and a breakfast burrito and they last me about 5 minutes, tops.
If you worry about five dollars, you need to cut your internet off, quit buying video games, and start collecting cans on the side of the road.

No new creatures or companions, although those who overlooked Dog in the Prelude will now get a second chance to add him to your party. And no, that doesn't mean you now get two Mabari.
For those who have completed the game, you will be able to return to Ostagar from your Epilogue Save.
I'd agree that Return to Ostagar has a significant combat focus but there are some really good story elements as well, particularly between the followers who fought in the Battle of Ostagar and for whom King Cailan held particular significance.
There will be a few codex entries available.

Hey now people, the man is being honest, no reason to get nasty. I'd rather get a truthful estimate than an overestimate.
I don't think anyone is being nasty. It's still a likely purchase for me. I'm just a little disappointed now. The original game clocks in at about 1-3 cents a minute. Return to Ostagar clocks in at about 8-10.

<facepalm>
at least the price is moving in the right direction i guess.
anyway, here's an actual question: any ideas on where this fits into the rest of the game? more specifically, is this something to do at the end or is it scaled to be done at any point during the campaign?

People are upset over "an hour to play through" because they would like more. Also, I'm not going to go to the epilogue save and just do one area for loot I'll never use again until the next DLC comes out. It's all meh.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I was hoping for a new character companion or something like that, but then I realized that the game has only been out for a few weeks, and they likely have a lot more DLC planned.
It seems more like they're testing the waters for future DLC, a little.

To the devs, I don't give a flip how long it takes. I love the Dragon Age universe and I especially love the characters, so as long as the DLC relates to them I will buy it. $5 buys you a cup of coffee nowadays and that's gone in less than an hour.
My thoughts exactly.

That said, if you really don't think it's worth the money then don't buy it.

People will have to make their own decisions about whether or not the price is right for them. I was involved in the pricing decision and this is the price I recommended and felt was appropriate for the content and the amount of effort required to create it. But yes, we understand that $5 can be a lot for some people to pay.
I think $5 is fine considering it likely took more than an hour to create it. I know if I were creating the content, people better expect to pay me more than $5 an hour. Don't give in to whiners!

I paid $5 for lunch at McDonald's and that only lasted fifteen minutes. The price is *fine.*Rob Bartel wrote...
