How do you get dog?  I can't figure out how to get him to join my party before I go up to the tower of Ishal.  Is it because I'm a elf?

You will have a random encounter. At least that is how it happened with my elf character....

Yesh that's correct you should have a random encounter when you leave the witches hut (after the tower of Ishal) and beofre you arrive in Lothering. Provided you completed the kennal master's quest :)

Its not about the money, its how they charge us for micro transaction with content that nobody really want.
Now you might say well I want this, ye and that because you take anything over nothing.
is that what you want? lame content just because its cheap?
or do you demand something that is actually worthwhile over DAO and EAS plan to probably release 5-10 crappy DLC for 400 points?

People take anything these days.

Yup...the moment you give me money you can tell me how to spend it until then enjoy whining on this board while we enjoy the game 8)

Hey, I'm happy for anything I get - I love the game. $5 isn't a huge amount to spend (not for me), considering the amount of entertainment I can get out of it (and any Alistair time is appreciated - ahem *whistles innocently*). Also, it's something to do in between slogging through formatting manuscripts.

It's not about the $5 cost. General expectation of the players is that the DLC is a significant experience and needs to be longer. After all, a majority of the fans spend long hours, and for us, a 30-min or 60-min episode is disppointing.

Hopefully there will be a lot of DLC released over the next two years. There is no obligation to buy it all. Just look at the feedback and only buy if it interests you or seems like good value.

i am guessing that the longer DLC is more likely to be released later because it takes more time to finish.I think they may be working on several DLC simultaneously.

Also people are going to prefer different things. Some people may enjoy the shorter adventure with a story hook. Others may want a long combat heavy dungeon crawl. Someone else may prefer a new Denerim location with several quests etc.

I 100% agree. They can't release a huge DLC/Expansion less than a month after the main game comes out. While I doubt we're going to get anything as low as Horse Armor, these DLCs are meant to keep people interested while the bigger DLCs are being made. I'm going to buy it, personally, and if you don't want to, you don't have to.

I haven't noticed this point being made, but frankly what I have to say to anybody outraged at $5 for only an hour of play is this: Welcome to the cinema revenue model. This is about the price per hour you pay to see a movie in a theater, minus the exorbitant premiums for refreshment while enjoying your entertainment.

Personally I'm more disappointed by the length than the value. I'd much prefer a two-hour long DLC for $10 than a one hour DLC for $5.

This argument is foolish when you are just judging it by length.

What do we know? We know it'll have at least two great cut scenes where you recover cailans remains and learn of his plans and something with Duncan too. We know we'll be retaking the fortress from the darkspawn and that'll probably be a good amount of fighting and when all that's done there will likely be good new armour, weapons and DA lore etc to pick up and hopefully once the quest is complete Ostagar will be under your command as a base and from there you can make scouting expeditions into the korcari wilds and possibly kill more darkspawn.

Hell, if you know what you're doing and skip cutscenes and just blaze through, u can go through the likes of redcliffe village and the demon posessed kid in about an hour of play and well, i'd pay $5 for that.

It's content, not length that this should be judged on and just now all we can do is ask questions of its content, so all you moaners please shut up and keep this thread to asking questions regarding its content, not moan about the length vs price aspect which has already been answered...it's $5 and it can be completed in an hour, now take your moaning and argument elsewhere and leave this thread for asking questions regarding it's content.

I still want to know if Ostagar will become a base camp when its been completed.

And anoter question i still haven't seen answered but its been asked loads is if you can get Cailan and Duncans armour and weapons?

$5 for a new DLC is not much, still think we who bought collectors edition should get free DLC for at least a few month.

I would like to know : what's the point to release adventure which will have no impact on the main story ? I would prefer to wait new extension in some way, because all I see see in this DLC is : there will be new loots, a new map and new dialogs.

I am sorry to say it, but that's a pity that the scientist in Soldier peak wasn't useful at all for the main plot since you take your time to put him in the game and having some background.

Yes, I would've prefered that DLC stories will make the main plot richer with time. Please consider it, I know it's a lot of work to edit the script and getting the approval of David Gaider but think about it won't like to have a story "evolving" ? S your work will be remembered because it will have some consequence ? Think about the replay value for fans who will try again and again to beat the last boss just to see, what changes after a new DLC ?

Of course, you can't do that to every DLC but some can be imprtant and make the main plot richer :)

Anyone else remember the awesome days of "free" DLC from Cavedog for Total Annihilation? Now...I'm not suggesting everything should be free, but it was cool to download a combat unit or two every week for a while. It kept me playing...and going back to the site to get the new stuff. It also made me buy the expansion the day it was released. I sincerely appreciate the relatively cheap DLC for Dragon Age (One of THE BEST games I've played in...a very long time!) but I wish they would toss us a bone every so often...(I'll admit I'm thankful for the storage bin in camp!), but some surprising...and FREE bones every so often would be really motivational to buy the other DLC...in my humble opinion.

More content > no content.

And more money for Bioware = more expansions.

Imagine what this game could be if we got 2 expansions like NWN? Adding more and more stuff.

And $5 is nothing. Like 15 min of work for me. Or half a movie ticket. Or a burger.

Maybe lower the price a teensy bit? 1 hour of content doesn't seem like a lot. Especially if you're only going to visit the area only once.

Anyone remember the days where games didn't have DLC's or patches? You got what you bought in the box, and that was it? If an expansion came out, it was about the price of the original game...

Be thankful we can multi-platform, still have patches, and buy your dlc's/expansions straight from home. They could have left the story off where they did and say  "wait 2 years for DA:O 2 to come out".

There was never a day when games didn't have patches.
If something needed fixing, the developer would fix it.

Sometimes a dev would later release free cut content that was salvagable, but thats rare and depends on additional factors. Notable games that had additional free content were Diablo 2 and Throne of Bhaal(David Gaider is one of my favorite devs due to his ToB: Ascension mod and the reason why I bought Dragon Age before "test driving" it in the first place)

How old are you?  There was, literally, 30 years where games had no patches.
