I suspect it would take a typical first-time player about an hour to complete.

There will be outrage.

Not from me, but from all the people that thought Wardens Keep was a rip-off and whatnot.

I am thinking about the same, Wardens Keep was just a bit too short and by the sounds of RtO, it is going to be even shorter.

Not overly interested on this product at the mo.

I also want to know the release date. "holiday season" is a bit vague and considering that it should be close and yet there is still not a specified date, I'm worried. I'm postpoing my playthrough since I want it to be more "complete" (without continuing from an epilogue save). At least tell us whether it will be postponed or not.

What is the release date for Return to Ostagar?  How much will it cost for the download?

Did you read anything of the original post or the addons page on the DA website?

There still hasn't been a confirmed release date, so it's a fair question.

As for the cost, not so much.

Are there any plans to make a co-op (online play) for this game? That would be sweet ! Looking forward to Return to Ostagar. They said Holiday Season...which Holiday ? 4th of July !!!???

I think co-op would be pretty interesting myself, but I also understand that the likely hood of that happening is about the same as me winning the next California Lotto.

Why is everyone so hyped on multiplayer or co-op? Does it add anything to the game?

Many people enjoy games that are designed for coop. Neverwinter Nights is a good example of a game where multiplayer added a lot. Unfortunately, Dragon Age wasn't designed as a multiplayer game and many people don't realize that adding networking and coop to a launched singleplayer game isn't easy or profitable.

Our next piece of Premium Content, Return to Ostagar, has been announced.

If you have any questions about this new release, please post them here and I'll do my best to answer them for you. I'll try to avoid any spoilers not already covered within the module description and ask you to do the same.

Thanks for playing Dragon Age and for your interest in extending the experience!

Best game ever!  Keep extending until you can't anymore.  I know I will keep adding anything you guys create.  I love RPG games and this has to be the best.  I hope when you run out of adding Bioware will create a part two of the story.  Image IPB Oh, and Thanks for all the work you guys put into it all with the game and making expansions.  If there are simular games I would appreciate recommendations!

Adding a small new campaign with cooperative elements that can be extended through the tool set (Never Winter Nights style) could be profitable if they include it in an expansion.  CLEARLY there are a lot of people interested in that sort of thing, so they could add it in an expansion and make it a major selling point.  The base Dragon Age game does not really lend itself to a "multiplayer mode" (unless you designate one player the main player and treat the other players as companions I suppose...).  Almost every game has a multiplayer component these days, so apparently it is profitable and doable for most developers to include one.  I don't think they would necessarily have to do anything with the main campaign, but I suspect an additional multiplayer mode that takes place in the same world and has the same gameplay mechanics would be appealing to a lot of people (and thus potentially profitable).

I'll probably end up buying it, but I do think Bioware is being a bit cheap with these things. Warden's Keep was short too, and it felt really lifeless from lack of context. I felt like I just popped in, cleaned out, and now I stop buy to store my extra magic arrows that I'll never use.

There were so many opportunities for exposition, storytelling, cinematic subtlety, etc that were just all left by the wayside.  And afterwards, it still just feels like a big empty castle except there's two merchants standing outside (unless I'm wrong, and it changes later in the game).  It feels like they were intentionally placed near the entrance to save you the hassle of ever actually going back into the castle.

It doesn't take THAT much to come up with 3-4 hours worth of content with these toolsets once the game itself has already been established. An hour, once you flesh out a couple conversations, add in some fights, consider the time spent running from one place to the next, is basically nothing in this game.

I'm sure to get it.(seeing as to how I already have 1024 BW points. LOL)

Unless Technology improves x100 fold content size/cost is always going to kick us in the nads.(that will be the day, when a five year old can create games better and more easily than whats available today)

5 bucks for an hour's entertainment, repeated for each character you make, plus some loot to use in the rest of the game, is cheaper than a movie at the cinema. If this content is up to the standards of the original game, then it is better than most movies, too.

Of course, I want more.

Ok, three things here.

Firstly, I decided that I didn't want to wade thru 1500 posts and I'm sure that the question has been answered, but do we have a release date? I saw the dev post that said that they were working of optimization and testing, but that was 20 days ago.

Secondly, like microtransactions in MMO's, DLC is here to stay. Get used to it. It's a profit node for the game company and reduces the time to get a game onto the street. With game design costs quickly creeping up into the $25 million range, the companies have to a) reduce some content to keep the games reasonably affordable at $50-$60 and B) recoup some of their investement. Like everything else in the world from hamburgers to automobiles, quality is paid for by the customer.

Lastly,

Given how much pausing to drink potions and give orders you have to do in this game, I'm thinking that multiplayer is not that good an idea. Besides, if I wanted to hear chatter while I'm trying to enjoy a story, I'd go to the movies or play with the mmo I'm on. :)

You obviously never played NWN online or you would have a pretty good idea of how it would work, also the big desire for multiplayer isnt just coming from those who would like to see it added to the campaign there are just as many who would like to see it for the persistant worlds that the modding communities tend to create.

The original NWN had some of the best, I remember those days fondly.
