you need to be patiant thats why these forums were made to talk about it to waist time and ask questions till we get a response or it is posted .

It's not obvious that we don't know because there's over 60 pages of worthless crap including this post that has no information about the DLC whatsoever.
By the way, learn to spell.
There was a posted release date on another website that said, cryptically, "December 2009" and the Bioware website's "holiday season" release date means somewhere between now and December 24th. Exact date unknown on account of the DLC is undergoing testing (so how long until we get it depends on how many bugs they find/fix).

I do wish they would at least give us an estimated time frame though. It's been 21 days since the original announcement. If it's coming out sometime this month they should know by now roughly when they plan to release it. My only hope is that for the next DLC they don't tell us a month ahead of time. All that they've accomplished by announcing it will be released at some point during the holiday season (which lasts till the New Year by the way) with no updates is getting people to snipe at each other over what will be in it, when it will be out, and whether it will be worth the money, as evidenced by this thread.

Duncan can't be alive. It specifically says in the codex that he died at Ostagar. I don't see Bioware bringing him back to life and changing the codex after the fact. Not to mention Zepheera's very good point about it completely changing Alistair's dialog and motivations, and messing with the PC being in charge. I just can't see Duncan letting the newest Gray Warden stay in charge if he's brought back to life.

Remember gandalf dying in lord of the rings?
Ever heard of comic book deaths?
Maybe someone researched a ressurection spell or duncan is back as a meat puppet of some blood mage?
Duncan could be chuck norris and is only resting.

But that's exactly what they want! If we're busy sniping at each other that means we're less likely to snipe at them. A classic divide-and-conquer strategy.jennamarae wrote...

That would be a cool idea and can create more interest on this game. A legendary grey warden once thought to be dead, only to return as Chuck Norris err to turn the tide of the battle.

Yeah, but he had magic. Duncan doesn't.

You may have a point there, if only because I laughed at that one.

Very true. Aside from a few minor annoyances that I can ignore till they patch the XBOX version, I personally don't have anything to really snipe at them for. Except not giving an update or an actual release date that is.

David Gaider has said that the Codex contains deliberately faulty information so as to replicate a realistic word-of-mouth history where the "facts" are delivered through the bias and perspective of those giving them. Considering that, it would make sense for the Codex to say he was dead because certainly he is perceived to have died, even though nobody saw the corpse.jennamarae wrote...

I don't know if I like the idea of Duncan coming back, but the Codex certainly does not rule it out.
Edit: You're right about them not changing the codex after the fact however, they basically said in another thread that they won't be making any effort to correct inconsistencies in the backstory even if the "we made the codex wrong on purpose" idea doesn't explain it.

I fail to see the point of that much excitement Bioware can do better i hope all this delay has something to do with the quality of rtO btw you should read some of the earlier posts of Wild Maiden he made a very credible argument about dlc,ill i have to say is dont be blindfolded ppl dont support mediocre jobs.
Why would you think it is delayed? They said, this holiday season. It is still the holiday season and will remain so for a few weeks. I am sure they have a target date they are shooting for but just dont want to release that info because if they somehow had to miss it by a few days the moaning and wailing from the forums could be heard on the far side of the internet.

If Duncan is alive and try to take the leadership as some ppl posted here ill teach him a lesson in pain as i did with another party member that tried to take the leadership from me(no spoilers)and btw except Alistair and maybe Wynne the other party members joined me not the grey wardens
A duel perhaps with only a longsword and no poultices, that would be fun!

The DLC needs to be way longer. I would expect at least 3 hours of Gameplay, unique items and armour too. The other thing about RPG's is why do they always overlook certain weapon types like Flail, two handed spears, spear and shield combo etc. I find that really annoying. The characters would also look better in cloaks/hoods etc. It's a lot of work sure but it would still be cool. animations for searching corpses should also be in.

According to the rules of magic, ressurection spells are not possible. Dead is dead. Couldn't see them violating that in something that has as little playtime as this is supposed to have.
Don't think dead things can be possessed either. Animated, yes, possessed, no.
