When deciding to include the achievement / trophy, we knew that we were putting a Christmas release at risk across one or more platforms. My personal preference would have been to stay the course and ship for Christmas but we ultimately decided that it was a risk worth taking. Most things in game development are never as clear or simple as we might like, of course, and I hope you're able to bear with us as we sort out the last remaining hurdles between us and launch.

One possible solution (and it may come to that) is that all content gets held until the PS3 version is fully signed off. It's simply a matter of Sony's certification process taking longer than those on the other platforms (PC is the quickest, then Xbox, then PS3). Generally, we try to budget sufficient time in our schedules to accommodate that but, in this particular case, our late-stage changes started eating into that extra time that we had set aside. As a result, a Christmas release of the PS3 version became impossible. Right now, we're on the knife edge to see if we can get the X360 version out in time - they did find a critical issue that we're currently working hard to fix. PC still appears to be on track but anything can happen.

I think it seems almost as if some people really do not care about the story of the game in the 1st place
What, are you kidding? I am still looking for my brother Feargus!

So, in order to activate the SECOND chance to get Dog, does this mean we need to refuse getting involved with him the first time?
I would assume that if you have dog in your party, you can't get him a second time.

I would imagine so yes.
As for all the people going on about the price, seriously, I bet a lot of you have bought games that have lasted about 8 hours and that you have never gone back to playing that have cost you $40, let's break that down shall we, oh yeah that comes to $5 for an hours game play! So why are you complaining?

As long as the quality continues to remain high, I have no problem supporting the game through the purchase of DLC.

When? is the question. I also hope the playing time is more than 2hours. The Soldiers Peak DLC could have been longer; and should have been used as a base for the pc and party to operate from replete with maids and the comforts of home living. Instead, after the party took it back from the demons,etc... they were locked out of it except for a party chest, totally contrived and not well thought out.
Agreed, except I see no maids or comfort there. Consider that the place is way the heck out there, and who has the luxury of importing comfortable furniture and employing maids? Also consider that the family is still working on the place. Perhaps a patch might open the doors at some point, but the fun of the "dungeon" and the good stuff that came out of it makes it still worth the cost of a movie.

Well, I asked because I want to make sure to refuse the dog at least once so that I can see how it plays out.

Yeah I am doing that with Flipflop, my 2nd dwarf commoner (avatar), RP reason will be that the dogs scare him, so he won't even go near the kennels. Yeah I know, seems a bit weird for someone whom will have already been fighting some people in a proving, but... this whole surface thing is new to him. Total contrast to my last dwarf commoner. Whom was a real brute.

I'd like for the DLC to be meaty enough to warrant me playing another 60 hours; new overpowered armor and 30 minutes worth of Codex entries isn't going to change my experience as much as say, some new random encounters, specializations, or optional bosses. And you don't need voice actors or new level designs for any of the above things
In fact, the Proving could easily be turned into another 5 hours of play time if you could unlock special bosses (read: copy and paste old bosses, change name, pump stats, tweak abilities or not, give some different minions) or fight randomly generated battles.

It's refeshing to see this DLC's existence acknowledged once again. For me it is a relief since I was terrified that this would end up like Pinnacle Station. Now I can feel rather confident that this DLC will be good.

Well might aswell pull my 8th char through the grinder and just make new ones to see Ostagar etc with since it's a tad *yawn* to do so with some of the Epiloguesaved ones...
Thx for the update though, and Dump Sony, who wanna play on a PS3 anyway? =oP
*j/k console huggers, calm down*

Just out of curiosity, would it have been possible to release it without the achievement and then add the achievement as an update and for future purchases later? I agree with you that it would have been a better plan to stay the course and deliver on your previously mentioned release date, but if the other folks at the table decided it was important to add the achievement it seems that any way to add it that wouldn't force you to miss your deadline would be superior to pushing the deadline back. I suppose making a patch or update available to the Xbox/PS3 customers is probably just as hard as making new content available, and releasing it without the achievement and planning an update would require you do go through that process twice...Rob Bartel wrote...
