When deciding to include the achievement / trophy, we knew that we were putting a Christmas release at risk across one or more platforms.

Just out of curiosity, would it have been possible to release it without the achievement and then add the achievement as an update and for future purchases later?  I agree with you that it would have been a better plan to stay the course and deliver on your previously mentioned release date, but if the other folks at the table decided it was important to add the achievement it seems that any way to add it that wouldn't force you to miss your deadline would be superior to pushing the deadline back.  I suppose making a patch or update available to the Xbox/PS3 customers is probably just as hard as making new content available, and releasing it without the achievement and planning an update would require you do go through that process twice...

No updates that affect DLC's in any way are always a bad idea because......especially on consoles(where achievements are usually demanded)....the update would also affect all who don't have the DLC and that is a very bad thing to do because in that case it would likely break things rather than help.....that's why you never EVER see patches for DLCs.

i don't get it... the dlc was available from launch on the ps3 yet THIS dlc certification process took you by surprise? you guys at bioware should have known or estimated how long cert. by sony should have taken. I'm not angry, just disappointed... this game is outstanding (except the fade part in the circle of magi, i found the shape shifting parts tedious and boring, the rest is a pure gem). It doesn't matter to me how much you would charge for dlc, i'll buy it, infact i'll buy every dlc that becomes available.

What, are you kidding? I am still looking for my brother Feargus!

Well , no spoilers allowed in this section but you don't need a DLC piece to be reunited w/ Fergus

I think you may have missed his point. He's defending himself against the accusation that players don't care about the story.

This may have been asked before, but I'm too lazy to look through 60 something pages. Does anyone know if the patch will be released along with this DLC or before it? Personally I'd rather have the current bugs/glitches fixed before new content is released. Well, either way I can't complain since I am pumped for Return to Ostagar, but it would be nice to have the current issues resolved.

Wow, you guys are reducing the $5 price tag? I sure hope you're still making a profit off of this. I don't think further price reductions are really warranted. We're going to buy it one way or the other no matter how much we moan and groan. That being said, i believe the common consensus is that in general, we'd like to see longer DLCs and possibly one that takes places after the events of DA1. Fallout 3 had a decent model with some of their DLC being fantastic (Broken Steel, Point Lookout). Personally I don't mind plunking down 30 dollars for another 20 hours of gameplay especially if it sheds light on what happens after we killed the archdemon.

I hope Bioware follows through with their statement that they will support DLC for the next two years, but with Mass Effect 2 and The Old Republic coming out I don't know how feasible that is

Just catching up with the news now; thanks for the update, Rob. I think the price drop is going to be the big kicker to draw in the demand. Do we know where it's going yet? I didn't come across the amount.

Everything is just coming together. BioWare has been listening to the players, BioWare is in the process of reducing the price from $5.00 to, my guess, $2.50, and they are implementing additional features to the DLC! ALL of that sounds Great, BUT and it's a big BUT, please get this DLC out prior to or on Christmas! People are already starting to drool, lets not disappoint!

Keep up the Great Work, The one company we RPGer's come to for quality games, Again, Thank You!

Less than 5.....I don't know but I seriously hope that all this complaints about prices isn't causing BioWare to stop developing larger DLCs or expansions. I don't mind the price.....give me a 30 USD expansion and I'll buy it. ME's DLC support was dropped completely after Bring Down the Sky was released.....I hope they don't do the same thing to Dragon Age.

What would interest me is if the decision to reduce to price was made as a reaction to the protests against the high costs of DLC in the forum, or because they realized that the content of the DLC doesn't justify the current price.

I honestly fear for the future of Dragon Age DLC if the former is the case INSTEAD of the latter, both in how much they listen to everyone (and by that I mean everyone) and in how much they don't.

Its not about the money.

Its a passion to see future DLC that really delivery and hit that sweet spot where everyone would like to craved for.

I read allot of feedback's on Warden Keep where people said it was a bit short . Maybe they rush through it or they felt like they didn't get the most for their bucks.

So i guess we the players here wanted to voice our concerns on the next up coming DLC to have longer gameplay , better story line,  more contents, and surprises.  If a DLC really delivery, no doubt word of month will spread like wild fire to get that particular DLC. Just imagine the massive amount of players willing to paid to get their hand on it. : )

Lower the price IMO is a way for Bioware thanking their players base for supporting and providing lots of feedback to them and the price drop might be a sign of Xmas discount hehe

I've only read the posts since Rob's first post in 20+ days, so I'd really like to clear a misunderstanding.

People have argued that we complainers are complaining for nothing, saying that $5 is nothing compared to a movie, cup of coffee, that if you can't afford $5, you shouldn't be buying games at all.

I have no problem paying $5 for a DLC. I'm not asking for Bioware to give me this DLC for free. I understand they need to make money, so I don't mind paying for content.

The problem here isn't the price tag, it's that the duration does not justify it's price tag.
Dragon Age costed $50, and it lasted me about 100 hours if I listen to conversations, read codex, fully complete quests, etc. $1 should last me 2 hours, so a $5 DLC should last me about 10 hours.
But it lasts only a mere 1 hour if fully completed. That's like 1/10th of what it should be. In reverse, how would you people feel if Dragon Age only took 10 hours to complete fully? That's right, it would not be the epic game that it is right now.

People have justified the $5 by saying it can be replayed forever, so it lasts more than 1 hour through replays.
But a single campaign of Dragon Age lasted me 100 hours without replays as well.

Again I don't understand why it's difficult to create a $5 DLC that gives you as much value as the main game itself ($1 = 2 hours). The entire game has already been created, the skeleton is already there. DLCs should reuse most of the stuff that's already in the game itself. I'm sure there is some engine for you to create things. It shouldn't take a lot of resources to create DLCs. Why is it so expensive in terms of hours of gameplay?

Edit: I read that the DLC has been reduced to $4. That's nice but it should still last about 8 hours, and 1 hour isn't anywhere near that. Seeing as the content isn't gonna be increased, I hope future DLCs will be worth the money.

I think there's some merit to the whole "hours of gameplay per dollar" argument, but personally I'm not as interested in the duration of the content as I am in the quality of the content. After playing Warden's Keep I didn't say to myself "Wow! That was amazing!" but more of a "...Really? That's it? I can't even go back inside?". Additionally I felt misled by the description of Warden's Keep which claims that it offers a "a base of operations with party storage" which turned out to be a guy standing outside with a box. I did feel that the main quest was short as well, but that could have been compensated for (and them some) if the keep actually became your new camp, as suggested by the description. In other words it wasn't the length that I found most disappointing. Overall I was unimpressed by Warden's Keep and did not feel it provided value equivalent to the cost, nor did I feel it reflected the quality of work we all know Bioware is capable of.

While some people were apparently pleased with Warden's Keep and would be content with more of the same, I wanted to see them do better, so I voiced my opinion here. They listened.

Return of Ostagar is starting to sound more promising. They didn't make it "longer" or add many new features to make the DLC pack more substantial, but instead they did lower the price to compensate, which is a good thing. I'm not quite sure why so many comments are along the lines of "why did you lower the price? I can't believe you lowered it!" almost as if they would prefer to pay more and get less...
