Sorry, no waffles but there will be some voicework, including from the followers. We put a particular focus on the various followers who were also present at the battle.
As for precisely when it will come out, we don't have a specific answer to that yet which is why we're being vague. We're still tackling one last optimization issue and then we need to make it through final testing and certification across all three platforms.
Average playtime is always tough to pin down because everyone's mileage will vary (and developers player the game in a very different manner than a typical first-time player). I can do a speed run (skipping through conversations and cutscenes, using a buff party, controlling Dog, avoiding some combats, ignoring loot drops, not looking at the scenery, etc) in about 15-20 minutes. I suspect it would take a typical first-time player about an hour to complete.
If it takes 1 hour to complete then no way am I buying this. Not a snowballs chance in hell. 7 bucks is not worth 1 hour to me, sorry Bioware. I got screwed on the Wardens Keep once your not getting me a 2nd time. The length of the Wardens content was pathetically fast and over with.

They just announced that the price will be lowered as to more reasonably match the amount of content, so maybe this snowball does have a chance in hell after all...Yelina wrote...

I would also be more inclined to purchase content with a little more substance to it. An hours worth of gameplay?? Enough with the appetizers! We want STEAK!
The game has only been out for a month and a half. Steak is incoming but it will require patience.

This is why the American meat industry went so wrong.

What we'd all like to see is a solid 4-6 hour adventure that builds enough tension so that the climax is worth it. If it is good, I think many will be willing to pay $10-15 for it. I don't think production costs scale linearly with play length. Once you've built the assets for snowy Ostagar, how hard can it be to create more areas with those assets? Same with voice actors, once they're on location (or in studio somewhere off location), adding an extra hour of work isn't going to cost nearly the same as the initial sunk cost in getting everyone together.
Warden's Keep did a good job of building tension, but it blew its wad too soon. Needs to take an SSRI for the delayed..

Like many gamers I don't think the issue is the price, $5 vs $4 is not much of a difference. It's just that any 1-hr quest is going to feel compressed and gimicky. Like Warden's Keep for example. It gets off to a real good start with the visions. But just when I am starting to get hooked into the story, it's over. Now judging by the price, Return to Ostagar is probably shorter than Warden's Keep. How good of a story could it be?

A lot of us are ready for something more substantial. I just hope that there are separate teams for expansions and dlc.

Warden's keep wasn't a scam, I purchased my rogue stuff there and even got starfang, its not so bad, I also got the diabolist exclusive skills, where's the screwing going on here? And the boss fight there was so good. Man you are one serious misinformed Fereldan.
Is it out now? Hehehe. LOL

It sounds like you're basically saying you like Warden's Keep for the items and skills. If so, just use the ToolSet and make yourself some items. Or just download any of the (many) user-made ones for new items and skills... no work at all on your part!Titius.Vibius wrote...

The only part that saves your post is your comment about the boss fight, which I actually agree with. There were 1 or 2 interesting fights. The plot was "meh" in my opinion, and the DLC has a sense of being rushed (Avernus, not being able to go back inside, etc...). It just wasn't enough content.
So you can understand why people are a little upset when Bioware basically says "we're about to give you more items but only about an hour worth of plot".
