Cerberus couldn't even reign in some Thorian creepers, who knows what kind of accidents they'd create with a fully functional collector base...

That wasn't Cerberus.  It was ExoGeni, the same company that ran the Feros colony.  And it was you killing the Thorian that made them go batsh!t.  Cerberus just bought a couple for study.  You see the Cerberus-owned creepers in one of the research facilities when you're doing the sidequest that ends with finding Kahoku's body.

Maybe he just messed up. Fighting a 600m Reaper is still incredibly huge. It would just be another aim-for-the-weak-spot ordeal.

And here is where I thought that Bioware will think out something new and unseen instead of ripping off another shooters...

It's funny how admiting faults of the last game only happens when the marketing of the next game has begun.
This all sounds really impressive, but alot of the marketing talk for ME2 or DA2 or any other game was misleading, so I have to force my self to reasonable wait.

Heh, yup. No point talking about what you didn't like about the game you just released which you want to sell millions! But when it comes to discussing the next one you want to highlight how you have changed it, usually in terms of improvement but also sometimes as a contrast. Looking at the DA boards it seems many posters there took this as 'bashing' the previous game. By the same people that poured months, nay years, of their lives into the development of it. *facepalm*

I actually try to force myself to not by into the hype as much as I can so the wait doesn't seem as long. Can be difficult though, and ME3 is particularly hard to avoid.

This is already sounding like the best Mass Effect game. Can't wait!

I wasn't sold on Cerberus being a big deal in this game since I feel like they're a distraction, but the idea of taking them down with Jack on my team? That could be incredibly satisfying.

That's very telling, even Miranda tells you it was a bad idea.

Come on now.

And Mordin + Legion (arguably both smarter than Miranda) opt to keep it.

Teams reactions:

Garrus: I don't know, Shepard. What happened here was horrible, but we have to stop the Reapers. If we destroy this base then all these people died for nothing.

Grunt: He's right. When your enemy gives you a weapon, you use it. You might not get another chance.

Jack: Seriously? Shepard, he's a user, just like Collectors.

Jacob: It's better because we'll do it? Shepard, this is way over the line.

Kasumi: Shep, he's talking about doing it all again. How will that help anything?

Legion: Shepard-Commander, this facility is data. It has no inherent ethical value. Destroying it will not return those lost. Keeping it may save others.

Miranda: I'm not so sure. Seeing it first hand--using anything from this base seems like a betrayal.

Mordin: Agreed. Collector base horrific. Vile experiments, but should use what's here. Risks galaxy to ignore opportunity.

Samara: You have not really defeated the enemy if you adopt their methods.

Tali: Shepard, we fought to stop it. Us using it doesn't make it right.

Thane: Shepard/Siha, I've made a life of killing those who deserve to die. We must struggle to not become what we hate.

Zaeed: Someone gives you a weapon, you don't complain that it's dirty--you use it

Bolded = Supports keeping it

I've never seen half of these. Must be a game glitch. Jack, Garrus, Tali, Samara, Thane, Mordin, Kasumi, and Jacob are all silent during this exchange. Must be a glitch? I thought only Miranda, Zaeed, and Legion had dialogue.

You only get these if you select the option representing the opposing viewpoint in the first exchange with TIM at the base.

It goes like this: after TIM contacts you, you have one opportunity to voice your opinion, then you get TIM's reply, and after that you make your final decision. If you have a certain team member with you, say Mordin, and when you voice your opinion you take the option opposing that team member's viewpoint, here destroying the base, then you get the quoted comment. If you select any other option when voicing your opinion, that team member stays silent.

Since I always take the middle option, representing my Shepards' tendency to think first and not make decisions on an impulse, I never get those comments.

" 'Twelve was a big number in Mass Effect 2 - almost too big", Hudson concedes.  "We're focused on a smaller squad with deeper relationships and more interesting interplay in Mass Effect 3' he explains.  "We're not going to have twelve again but we are going to do more with the characters on  your squad including Liara, and Kaidan or Ashley. And we're bringing everyone back - every main character is in Mass Effect 3 somewhere' "

So let's see.

3 squadmate we will have( Liara, VS and James), and 2 that ma die( Garrus and Tali).

I'm sure will have 2-3 more new squadmates and since there's gonna be less then 12 of them then only 4-3 old ones will join up Shepard again and that's only if there's gonna be 11 of them.

I am sad since Legion will probably won't be permanent squadmate since he's not a LI.

actually as long as tali is in it, legion is all the more likely as a counterpoint to the geth/quarian conflict, which is good news.

i am hoping that if your math is correct, that perma-squaddies will tend towards the LIs as that will disappoint less people (whetever relevant merits), especially to those who don't have any affinity with ME1 returnees.

Just as a clarification... The Atlas isn't 50 feet tall... that might just be a misunderstanding. *Fifteen* feet tall, is more in the ballpark. It's still rather intimidatingly large, but no so large that you can't see anything but its foot when you're standing next to it.

So it's slightly taller than the YMIR mech?

Cool.

so... not large enough to hold up the world, then? :crying:

actually that's a bit close to the ymir mech in size, and that doesn't have the disadvatage of a squishy pilot inside...

actually i've been thinking about this, too - with all the big levels and extra stuff - how's the framerate holding up? don't want ME1 judder and pauses back... :o (mind-you UE3.5- has gotten a helluva lot better with age).

That is so much win, oh my. Alien 2 comes to mind right away, definitely.

My Shepard is called Ripley Ellen, so I'm double happy. Wee!

Sounds good. Already way more hyped for this than I was with ME 2. Just need to keep it down a tad. Squad banter in... and so is toggle helmet by the sounds of it so I'm pleased with those additions.

Do you mean the issue with some guy with the gas-mask on his face on the cover?

If so, also the picture of James Sanders / Vega got me interested. So far it seems that it is still the sniper from the trailer. Also his description:

"A new recruit to Shepard's squad is well-armoured commando. Intended as a tank, he will take the damage you don't want for yourself."

I hope that does not mean no krogans in our squad. :crying:
