Yes, because when Bioware made ME2 they thought "Oh we'll just write one games worth of material for Miranda, no one will ever like her!" and now have no plans to put her in ME3.

People who say anything along the lines of "[favorite character] HAD BETTER BE IN THE GAME, BIOWARE, OR ELSE!" are the equivalent of Star Wars fans awaiting the release of Return of the Jedi saying "Man they had better have Han Solo in this movie or I am going to be pissed!"

That's way off don't you think? Han Solo will always be in Star Wars but imagine if he got to be in like 10 mintues of a 2 hour movie, no matter what he did or what happened in these 10 minutes you'll be left un-satisfied, now imagine the same thing happening with the character you loved the most in ME2 or ME1 only on a larger scale, what if the character had 20 minutes in a 30-40 hour game??

Go back and think about what you said, the sentence "Every major character will be back to some extent" always gives me weird vibes, happened after ME1 and is happening after ME2, don't punish me for being a little on the defensive.

They should put her in there in the first few hours then have her get killed like Wilson.

I'd actually love if they did this. Killing off a major character like Miranda (or hell, pick anybody in the same tier of characters) early on would lend the story a lot of weight, adding to the whole "Stakes are high, the sh** is real, and anyone can die!" vibe. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if somebody like Anderson bought it early on.

Then again, having them peppered throughout the game would also be good. Instead of one big mission where that's the only time certain characters can die (ie Virmire or the Suicide Mission) I'd love it if some "story" mission ended with a "Who Lives/Dies?" choice. Again, it'd add to the whole "This Is Serious" tone.

I'm not such a big fan of Miri, however she was very hot lookin' and a very useful squaddy.
Though I fear that BW won't include her as a squadmember for ME3, and maybe even try to kill her if she's loyal to Shepard, because Miri could seriously help Shep to fight Cerberus, and to hunt down TIM.
So my guess is that Miri and Jacob will be instant targets in TIM's eyes.

Heh, no one would take Garrus anywhere.

I don't think it's a fair comparison. ME2 was the middle chapter, and it made sense from a Storytelling perspective to have the VS not involed. ME3 is different. It's the grand finale, the big finish. It's gonna end with the major characters dancing with Ewoks to yub-nub. I guarentee you that almost anyone who's had a direct impact on the story, from Squad memebers to "B" characters like Parasini and that Green Asari from Feros will be involved beyond a "Hey I was here the whole time!" standpoint.

If we're going to run with the Star Wars analogy, look at Wedge Antilles. Solid "B" character lots of people liked in ANH, wasn't in ESB that much, and then showed up for the big finale for in RotJ. Even if we take away the Star Wars trappings, Miranda was a LI, she worked for Shepard's now-enemies, and she's fairly popular with the fans. I could see som people being worried about, I dunno, Aria or somebody, but all of the ME2 squadmates finished the game with some dangling plot threads (except for Samara. I wouldn't be surprised if she wasn't in ME3) left for ME3.

Come on people. This isn't Rocket Surgery to figure out.

After looking for the scans, I ended up thinking that people were talking about the recently released Official Xbox Magazine scans for Mass Effect 3, since it's also the UK version of OXM. But those scans show that that isn't the case, which makes me wonder why no one is talking about the OXM scans and why it's so hard to find the scans to Xbox World Magazine.

I'm still keeping my benefit of doubt, don't wanna get too optimistic only to be disappointed afterwards.

all the scans and articles have basically exactly the same info, with the only differences being the writer (of the article's) inferences. a GIS will show most, or you can click the link in my blog for both and compare for yourself.

Interesting read. I guess this means all companions are returning in one way or another, even if they aren't on the team anymore. I'm glad about that!

I'm also very interested about these redesigns. It's one thing doing them to show how characters have matured or changed with the times, so long as the same happens with their personalities. Otherwise, it would just be jarring.

Of course he will always be a part of the Star Wars Universe.

Only thing I'm not getting is why include James Sanders at all. We don't really need any new squaddies with the existing cast being as awesome as it is. Maybe he's important to the story.

Either way. Every sliver of info makes more and more excited for this game.

He's there for squad balancing. Remember, people are going to play this game ME virgins, or at the very least may import a save where Garrus, a "tank", so to speak, died on the suicide mission, and they saved Kaidan. Sanders/Vega/Ryu/Whatever is there so that people can play as a more "difficult" class (ie Vanguard, Adept, pretty much anything that's not Soldier) and still have someone who can dish out serious hurting. For that reason, I wouldn't be surprised if Ash or Garrus gets a tweak to there playstyle: most likely Garrus will be brought more in-line with his ME1 class, with balanced Tech and Combat, rather than ME2, where he was straight up badass. Otherwise, that measn that you could end up with a VERY Combat oriented squad, with 3 tanks: Sanders/Vega/Bison/Guile, Ash, and Garrus. Not that that wouldn't kick ass, but if you factor in someone playing a soldier Shep, that's a lot of firepower and not a lot of finesse.

Beautiful. I understand that they want to shrink down the cast on the ship, and I guess that's okay, so long as their roles aren't diminished when you do get to see them. Is it confirmed that Jack is a squadmate? Or just heavily speculated. I liked her, but I feel like she's too much of a wild card and not as interesting as someone like Thane or Mordin.

I think she's just heavily speculated, and from a squad perspective it's unlikely. With Liara returning there's no need for a pure-Biotics squad member, which is all Jack was good for. She'll definitely be involved, but if she is a squad member I'd imagine she'd be a temp. squadmate, rather than a full time member.

Honestly, I'm thinking we're looking at a team of around 8-10 members. Right between ME1's 6 and ME2's 12.

So I'm super excited about Kaidan returning. If Miranda can come back then I'll be a very happy person.

I'll admit that I'd given up on the franchise as a whole because of the direction it'd taken. It's good to see that things are swinging back to a happy middle ground now :)

I don't give a sh*t if Liara is a biotic or not but Jack and Miranda better be on the squad . If Liara is the only biotic then Bioware is really ass kissing the ME 1 fans

Well, if you thought about it, it actually makes sense for Miranda to be in the squad, as she's both Tech and Biotics. Jack, however, wouldn't make any sense. Liara fills all the same roles gameplay wise. So either you willfully don't understand gameplay design and squad mechanics, or you're a very committed troll.

I'd rather have Liara do the biotics, since Miranda can't even hold up the bubble during the SM without someone dying.

Thats fine but I have no use for the so called Shadow Broker and the rest of the do gooders who are forced to be on My Shepard's squad . they can all burn in hell along with the alliance
