thats not a confirmation. he said you can remove your helmet. you can do that in ME2.
armor locker, helmet, no helmet.

It's kind of a confirmation in the context of the question asked, plus, why would he state something if it were the same thing we've always been able to do? There'd be no point in saying it unless it was specific to the quesiton. Unless he's being Image IPB

What do you have against this idea?

Also, just sent him a tweet asking about the ME1-style toggle. Here's to hoping.

Well, ME1 would manage helmets automatically (on in vacuum, off indoors). I hope something similar applies to ME3. The way he said it, it could still be the exact same thing as in ME2 where you could either have the helmet on all the time or not at all until you come back to your quarters and make a change to your armor.

Yeah, this doesn't say whether we'll have a proper helmet toggle of not. I'm hoping we do, so that it's closer to ME1's style, but with helmets giving a bonus ala ME2, so I can still get the bonus, but don't have to have the helmet visible (unless I'm in an area where it's needed).

Now we just need somebody on Twitter to ask Casey about proper space-worthy outfits vs. rule-of-cool pyjama squaddies.

Awesome, now I won't be restricted to the visor 90% of the game. :)

If he says yes then I'll update the thread and credit you.

Otherwise I still think this was worth putting up...we may never get toggle helmet ( I would like it though) but having removable helmets from one piece armor sets (Cerberus Armor, Dragon Age armor, etc) I would be happy enough with that.

Mainly for the reason that we want to avoid having 1997 Lost in Space and Dead Space flashbacks?

That's not encouraging, since technically there was both in ME 2:  Some squaddies had armor and some were stripperific.

Exactly. I don't want both. If even one squaddie has a stupid getup that makes no logical sense, it makes everything a pathetic farce.

So again... please... link?

God DAMN it! Now I'm really pissed!

For God sakes, BioWare... get over this whole pathetic rule-of-cool nonsense that is just insulting to the intelligence and turns your entire universe into a pathetic farce I can't take seriously! Seriously... just stop! I don't want to see Mass Effect slip further into the stereotypical modern action movie affair to appeal to horny teenagers! STOP IT!!! <_<

I never wore the Terminus Armor nor the Cerberus Armor simply because the helmets looked dumb in some areas.

Maybe with the 'focus on new armour' he means that we'll still get the rule-of-cool outfits for on the ship, and armour for missions ala ME1?

Optional helmets: Win

Squaddie armour with possible combat boob coverage: Potential win

Somebody repeating "Pathetic farce" twice in less than an hour: Fail

I doubt we'll see the last of skintight outfits in spaaaaace.  I'd hazard from a marketing standpoint that Bioware sees more benefits than liabilities in providing visually tittilating content.  Let's face it--it's going to be a selling point.

Is it an absurd indulgence?  Yes, but not enough for me personally to break me out of my immersion.  I think the same suspension of disbelief one undergoes when reading a comic book where superheros wear skintight outfits applies similarly to this situation.  Read Michal Chabon interesting examination of that very topic--the problematic translation of superhero outfits into the real world--in the New Yorker link to follow:

http://www.newyorker...0fa_fact_chabon

And at least Bioware is an equal opportunity flesh peddler--for every low camera angle they have of Miranda's posterior, they also showcase Jake's heaving pectorals (Why was the Shadow Broker checking out Jacob doing half-naked sit-ups, anyway?) or Thane's in-your-face man cleavage.

And anyway, I don't think it's any more of an absurd fetish than the other extreme of gear fetishization, where Shepard and crew are hauling more gear than the locker room of an NFL team.

Hopefully. it'd be really nice if squad armour was customizable but that's a big stretch.

At the very least make them fully sealable if they "must" then.

Yeah, but superhero comics usually push things over-the-top all the time. They're not trying to be a sci-fi that tries to come across as logical, deep and believable one moment, and then throws it away just to "look badasss and awesumz!!1" the next. Mass Effect can't try and respect the dangers of space one moment and use it as a classic sci-fi tool, then just throw all logic and reason aside and treat it like it doesn't exist the next.

And worst of all, it's not even a factor that enhances the gameplay, unlike Thermal Clips which as illogical as they may be at least have a practical gameplay reason to exist. There's no practical reason at all for squaddies to dress in unsuitable clothes, it's purely an aesthetic factor, and a stupid, poorly thought out juvenile one at that.

I'm guessing it's just removable for shep and everyone else will have iconic outfits again.
