Returning ME2 squad members in ME3 speculation, after XWM news (spoiler)

I think we'll have a few from ME2, but not too many.
Grunt: I'm pretty sure he's coming back. Need a Krogan lol
Mordin: has been talked about but I don't know if he's a Squad member, but I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't.
ME2 LI: I think whoever you romanced in ME2 will be coming back as a Squad member, so thats Jack Miranda and Jacob. But to clarify I'm talking about the one person you romanced coming back to the Normandy. Not all of them.
Morinth: God no... lol
Samara: Maybe a mission with her, but I don't think she'll be on the ship.
Thane: I doubt he's coming back as squad mate seeing as he's going to die soon no matter what you do.
Kasumi: was a fun NPC but we are going into war and a thief doesn't feel right for this game.
Legion: I hope he comes back, but I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't.
Zaeed: NEEDS to come back. lol love that guy.

that whole miranda and ashley being the same is BS.......they may have changed ashleys look a little to look a little more femenine but that doesnt mean that she and miranda have the same personalities.....these girls are very different

There two characters couldn't be more different. About the only things they have in common are being female humans, and apparently having long hair and tight clothing. Plus there is so much we don't know about the presentation of the game. Maybe the screen shot in GI was how Ash will look while on the Normandy and in the field she will be wearing combat armor.

I see Miranda and Jack returning (around 80% sure). They redesigned Jack which is a good sign (if you want Jack to return). Miranda is the sex-appeal of the francise and she draws in the pubescent crowd. Plus she has one of the more expensive VAs so I don't think they would just let her go. Plus she is a LI. Jacob might return because he is a LI but everyone else hates him so... Grunt I don't see returning.hhh89 wrote...
We know after the article on the Xbox World Magazine that we'll have a smaller group of squad members in ME3. Since Liara, VS, Garrus, Tali and James Vega are confirmed as squad members, I'm thinking about which squad members of ME2 could return in ME3 as permanent squad members.
In my opinion Samara/Morinth, Thane, Zaeed, Kasumi, Legion and Mordin will not be permanent squad members . Tali and Garrus are already confirmed, so Miranda, Jacob, Jack, and Grunt remain. I don't think that all this four will return because we'll have 9 squad member with them, and it seems to me not much different to having 12 squad members, though I hope that they'll return. Jack seems the more plausible returning for the info we had in the past weeks about her.
So I create this thread to speculate about the other members of the ME2 team. I didn't see another thread about this. If there is already another, close it.
Plus there is that hole Ash and Miranda dynamic if she returns. The Miranda support thread says Ash is fire and Miranda is ice. There similar in some ways and completely different in others. It would be nice to see them hate each other at first then grow to become best friends.

Also they've said garrus is with you at the trial, not sure why someone in here thought he hasn't been confirmed, he, Liara and VS all have been along with Vega. Coulda sworn there was a more recent quote that eluded to Tali being a permanent. Seems odd she wouldn't be. Fan base aside she was either Exiled or stationed on the Normandy, or died. Out of the 3 outcomes none of them are 'with the fleet'. On top of all that shes a romance, long time coming at that.
Theres just no real reason for her not to be a permanent squady at this point like Garrus, Liara and Ash/Kaiden.

I don't think it would make everyone happy, especially those who like these characters but didn't romance them.
But if it means that Miranda will be back to the Normandy and a permanent squadmate in my game : I approve.

Mark my words friend. They wont do that again. They've already said they felt ME2 had too many people. They wont add more after the fact.jakal66 wrote...
I guess people are forgetting that we might get some later in a DLC...like Kasumi and Zaeed...that could be cool...as long as their return makes sense...

So ok If Garrus and Tali died on my SM mission on ME3 I gonna see then and be wow how you guys survived ? And they will be like "We fell into a hole and got propeled into space then the Base exploded and it FTLed us to earth Shep". Good times, good times

I really hope Bioware are implementing such a system. It is the only way of avoiding short changing people in terms of Love Interest progression.

If you hda some of them for a short time, like Grunt on Tuchanka or Mordin on the Salarian world this would be fine. This also solves the problem of them dying, cause then people would miss Mordin only in the Salarian part but still have Grunt for the Tuchanka part. Since most squadmates are interchangable for powers etc this doesn't affect gameplay but does make for some nice cameo's.

I think most of ME2's cast won't be a permanent squadmember. Doesn't really matter though, as you aren't going to attack the reapers with your team like you did with the collectors and you can only have 2 members at a time in your team. I for one didn't use a lot of squadmember due to the abundance (Samara, Jacob, Tali, Zaeed, Miranda).

That would be a good way to do it but then theres the problem of who was the VS. You see Liara is the full biotic, Kaidan has biotic and tech but Ash and Vega will be tank so probably Soldiers. In me1 there was only 1 pure soldier squadmate and in ME2 there is noone as everyone is either full biotic, tech or a mix of it.
So if I saved Ash i gonna start with a team of 2 soldiers and a biotic but with Kaidan it would be back to Me1 style of biotic, soldier, tech&biotic. Theres always a chance Ash could become a tech user that would balance it out,
The optimal way would be to give Ash tech powers then the 3 team members will be balanced and then add 2 more members that you can choose from the available ppl that survived the SM. If only the minimum of 2 ppl survived the SM then you have no chooice in choosing them but if more survived then you can choose from them. If your LI from ME2 survived the SM then he/she could be automaticly choosen so you only have to choose one member.

The speculation is that James Vega is what he needs to be, soldier when Kaidan survives, biotic if Ash survives.

Or else I will use Garrus and the new guy as My Squad and leave the b*tch ashley and liara to rot on the ship for the whole game
You may as well have just said "Or else nothing". You think Bioware gives a crap that you won't use those squadmates? You think that somehow "punishes" them? Oh, and given that the VS and Liara were saved specifically for ME3....enjoy the inevitable missions where you have to use them no matter what.

Exactly. I dont want to miss out on a great story, but I'll find a way to vote with my wallet, even in a minor way. I have several scenarios I like and several I could live with with few misgivings, but they have all one thing in common: satisfactory screen presence of and interaction with my favorite character(s). And "satisfactory" includes more than a one-mission temporary presence.wright1978 wrote...
I'll finish the trilogy no matter what but pre-ordering at full price and buying DLC will go off my to do list if i'm not happy with the squad on offer.

I'm with you on this. I know that in the big picture me not preordering the game and buying DLC isn't going to make anyone loose any sleep, but people need some outlet to vent their frustrations (besides rants on forums) if we don't get to see much of the character(s) we have grown so attached too.
I am going to remain hopeful that we will get some more clarification on squad member status from Casey at E3, and hopefully that will let me remove my finger from the panic button.

Or she could end up just as a temp squad member.
Also if you consider that 2 of the confirmed squadies can die, some players would end up with only Liara,VS and Vega. So we're gonna get one or two new chars or old unkillable char as squadie. If Jack's back that would leave us at 7-8, which seems "less than 12" which Bioware is aiming. Ofcourse Bioware's less than 12 could be 10 or 11 too, we can't know for sure
