There are a number of characters you can choose to kill during the game like Javaris Tintop, Gascard DuPuis and Lilley's coterie friend.

Who died in your game and who was spared?

I felt bad the one game I murder knifed Javaris, I like him (even though he's a scoundrel).

Which game? I'm on my 6th playthrough. :D

I never kill Javaris. He's an idiot, but I don't think he deserves to die for it.

The other ones really do need to die, and they've died often in my playthroughs:

- Gascard du Puis (usually shot in the neck by Varric)
- Kelder (Fenris gets the honors with him)
- Brekker

Plus, companions are pleased with of all of the above getting killed (except Javaris).

Seems like there are more, but I can't think of any at the moment...

The thing about killing Javrris is he doesn't think you are going to do it and just start blithely walking away. I think in your dialogue option it does say "Time to die." or something like that but poor old Tintop just walks away and gets the old knife in the head treatment. (Javaris does have the best string of curses as well.)

I don't think you can spare Brekker, can you?

I think at one point or another I've killed every person who can be murder knifed. My aggressive Hawke was particularly knife happy..

I've yet to kill Javaris, he's only guilty of being an idiot. Never killed Lily's twin Cotarie sister either, although I've killed enough Cotarie that I probably should. I have never let Gascard live (you get more XP by killing him).

It seems like I always kill:
The Dalish
Idunna (pity there wasn't some other option here)
Anders

Not that I know of, but the original topic mentioned Lilley's Coterie friend, and I wasn't sure who that was. LOL

Edit: Oops, now I know who you mean. I always let her go.

 @TheAwesomologist

You always kill Idunna? I always let her live, for some unknown reason. At least she's grateful if you spare her life; you get a nice letter from her at the mansion after a while.

I've killed the entire Dalish tribe once, but I've only spared Anders once. ;)

Well my Warrior killed her because it was just the option I chose (the kill her right away and get no info from her directly option).
Second time I pumped her for information but as a Mage I would never send anyone to the Kirkwall Circle. I'm pretty sure I spared her from rape.
Third time I was just on a roll...

That said I think it's a missed opportunity for some Bloodmage unity. Would have liked to have set her free or maybe even get to work for me in some way (Kind of like Jowan in DA:O). I thought she was going to be an important character considering her room is locked for much of the act until you get to that part in the quest. Just seemed like a missed opportunity.

Most prominently Ser Karras and Castillon.

On most playthroughs, I kill Castillon.

On one playthrough I killed Ser Karras, Javaris Tintop, Lilley's friend.

On every playthrough I kill Kelder. None of my Hawkes so far were lawful stupid.

Only recently did I realise you could bring Gascard along to Quentin's lair, instead of just killing him outright/sending the templars after him.

I haven't killed Castillion or Ser Karras yet. It took me until my last playthrough (5th) to turn the mages over to the templars in Act of Mercy. For some reason, I can't seem to get over that hump to kill one of the templars, even if he is a total jerk.

I like the idea of getting Isabela a boat, so that's saved Castillion more than once.  ;)

I really, really don't understand why Izzy can't just take the boat after we kill him. I mean, sure, it's not as stylish...but I'd think she'd want the boat bad enough.

Wait, why *can't* she take the boat? It's not like Castillon is going to need it anymore.

Thus far I haven't yet played a truly ruthless character, but aross all I did play some characters always, always die.

All of the slavers, Castillion, and Kelder.

I'm guessing Isabella can't take the boat after Castillion is dead because he needs to sign it off to her, or some other legal/port authority issue? Pirate or no, I imagine there are obstacles with authority while the ship is in Kirkwall docks. As much as I like Izzy, Castillion dies. None of my Hawkes have been able to look past the fact that he ran slavery operations that collected people fleeing the Blight, took their money for safe passage, and sold them into slavery.

As a sidenote, I've heard you can actually side with Mother Petrice when playing predominantely agressive personality. Is that true? Does she get to live then?

That has been a topic of discussion fairly recently.

Isabela can't do anything without going through legalities this time.

Yeah, I always kill Castillon and Izzy never gets the boat and I'm always scratching my head at the why. I mean, my Hawke worked for smugglers. He was always slightly outside the law. It's not like he's going to turn her in. *sigh*

As for who else dies: Idunna, Kelder, Petrice, and Gascard usually eat it by the end.

I think the only NPC I killed was Kelder (because I can't stand men who abuse women that way! I really can't stand those men!)

And I let Fenris kill the slaver mage in A Wayward Son.

And my second playthrough I accidentally killed Idunna XD.

I only killed Kelder because he begged for it, really; I don't like killing in general.

I don't metagame, and instead make choices I think are appropriate to the character I am playing. On my "official" run (the first one), I was a sarcastic Asian female rogue. As a result of her choices, it would probably be easier to say who I DIDN'T wind up killing:

Varric, Aveline, Cullen, Merrill, Sebastian, Isabela, Zevran, Allistair, um... let me think... Bethany, Sandal, Bodan, Snoopy (my dog), Gamlen, Hawke's cousin, that hooker's son in the Blooming Rose,... I'm sure there's more... Flemeth... and...

Wow, I guess I left more people alive than I thought.

NOTE: I didn't so much "murder" most of my victims as much as either defended myself or made a seemingly logical decision that resulted in an "innocent" blood mage being beheaded for a crime he didn't commit. Oh well.
