Yes, I know, but the 2 pictures you showed (and the most common cases of it) are either just smoke puffing or a fire releasing a 'cloud' that kind of looks like a mushroom explosion.

That's irrelevant, because the physics involved is the same: hot, light gases formed near the ground.  That said: we shouldn't see the cloud in places with little to no atmosphere, or in low grav situations.  On the other hand, there's no way they'd spend time to make separate effects for those cases, so that's a bit of a moot point.

Arc Projector. I love that thing, it's great. My friend and I had this joke going that whenever we needed to clear a crowd in real life, we wish we could whip out an Arc (silly things such as huge bar queues, etc... )

I went for a long time without really understanding how to use the Arc Projector. I got the idea on my last playthrough but, at that point, I was using a Vanguard and Vanguard plus Flame Thrower is pretty cool

I probably use the Missile Launcher the most but the Blackstorm can be really satisfying!

The Collector Particle Beam has it's uses but it takes too long to burn through anything on the high difficulty levels.

I don't think I ever used anything but the Arc Projector or the Cain.

Favourite heavy weapon would probably be the cain or the particle beam.

I rarely used the cain though. And the only times I used the particle beam were against praetorians, to get rid of their barrier. For the reaper core and human-reaper, I just used the mattock with armour-piercing ammo + AR.

Personally, I think the game needs some balance/tweaks to actually make heavy weapons necessary or make me more inclined to use them.

I actually used it exclusively during my Insanity playthrough as an infiltraitor and I have no complaints whatsoever. :happy:

AND it looks / functions almost exactly like one of the alien weapons in District 9.  

And who would'nt want to play around with one of those

I think I tried the arc projector a time or two but was too dense to figure out how best to use it. It seemed to me you had to pull the trigger and let a charge build up like Cain and meanwhile I was getting taken apart by the enemy, Obviously I was using it wrong.

I used the missle launcher the most, then Cain and particle beam.

[Unpleasant Implications]

The Blackstorm projector for crowd control on lower difficulties, the Cain on most boss fights any difficulties.
