Iirc that's the technique that was used for Avatar. Besides the (probable) financial issue I see one more issue with the use of that technique: the facial expression capturing seems problematic in a project where the same character can actually have different faces (the customized Shepard appearances). I think they  stick to some sort of generic bone structure in the face to enable reuse of the facial expression animations.
I can see this becoming somewhat challenging when you are trying to reuse minutely captured facial expressions on faces with deviating proportions.

Whereas in Tomb Raider the artists won't have to deal with that, the face stays the same.

I spend roughly 5 minutes every day "getting mad" at the amount of redundant Tali's Face threads made each respective day. Granted, those are some intense and simmering 5 minutes.

Tali is probably my favorit charecter, but oh why can't those people just post in one thread? I mean come on people. I like the charecter and all, but we only need one thread. It expecialy is annoying since all are variations on talking about Tali's face. Can't they just post in one of the five other ones instead of making a new one. Or bettet yet, why can't they just go to the Tali Charecter thread.

The EA press conference is tomorrow at 4:00 pm local time (CET).
According to the German magazine PC Games Ray Muzyka will be there to give an update on Mass Effect 3. They also claim that he will unveil a multiplayer demo, but we'll see.

English is a structural weakness. German magazines don't use that.

If I recall correctly, the press conferences and stuff are tomorrow, that's when the interesting stuff will be announced if it is, and then the event proper runs from Wednesday to Sunday. I'm probably wrong, but hey.

Two separate issues.
