"Without spoiling anything, will the elcor, drell, hanar and volus have important roles in ME3? Volus/elcor crewmate please!"

"They'll play the usual roles, but due to several reasons, having them be anything more than NPCs is a hugely challenging hurdle."

I dont really like the sound of this too much, I dont see them as squadmates (that wouldn't really work) but I would like them to play bigger roles, like Elcor ships helping in a battle (something like that) Hopefully we will meet more Elcor, Hanar and Volus in ME3, ME2 needed more. I'm probably reading into it too much though, and I guess he might have just been refering to them being squadmates.

That's about 100% exactly what he meant. I'm actually puzzled how someone would go and misinterpret it.

Agreed.  It's the combat animations with different skeletal rigging.

Europe is getting it on March 8th, 2012.

Sweet. That's a day earlier than when I pre-ordered it.

To clarify, I'm not aware of specific country release dates. I was just going to line the date out for everyone before there was some ****storm (ie someone thinking the game was delayed until August of 2012).

It was just this bit ''They'll play the usual roles'' The usual roles for them isn't usually much, not in ME2 it wasn't anyway.

Edit: Except for the Drell.

Mac Walters says :@TheTMA2 Actually, the Council's key to the #ME3 story, so you'll be chatting with them for certain. Old or new. when asked if: This is probably too much of a spoiler, but if the Council die, will we ever meet the new Council in ME3?

I'm so happy to have it confirmed that we'll get to catch up with our old buddy, Mr. Airquotes.

"Subtle ones. Yes. But your squad's desperately fighting to unite galaxy & stop Reapers.
Jokes on mission may not be appropriate"

Meh, hope they don't stick to that rule too much. BioWare characters tend to be perfect when it comes to adding levity and a bit of silliness to an otherwise dire situation, ala Whedon shows like Firefly amongst many others now. I'm sure this is just a general rule and not an across the board ban on 'fun' but still sounds wrong to hear it said somehow.

To clarfiy: ME is obviously a fairly serious sci fi series, with the trilogy being about a massive wear for the most part, but I have always found it's tone most fitting with tv shows and films that have a somewhat tongue in cheek sense of fun about them (as well as the serious stuff), I mean Star Wars is another good example and even NuBSG had it's moments amid the gloom. Just hope they haven't made the third installment TOO grimdark is all.

Also: YAY we get to meet the Human council. :D

Edit: And they are totally saving the Volus, Elcor and Hanhar for a spin off co-op shooter staring Blasto. The players take the role of Blasto, Barrus and Volus and Elcor characters and fun is had by all.

I hate to make a comparison to Dragon Age but there we got some very interesting tibits from party members like Wynne and her son. I wonder if we'll get any character fleshing out like this...B) Like have Garrus mention his sister and mom to Tali or something...

Hey Casey is Blasto a real spector or does he just play one for the movies? And do we get to see clips or find them throughout 3 (and collect them) for later viewing on ship?

"One of my Shepards romanced Kelly Chambers in #ME2, will I be able to continue that romance in #ME3?"

Sooo I didn't get the answer I wanted but it's as close as one as we can get I think.

Wouldn't a romanced Kelly have to be alive by default? You get the dinner and feeding the fishes before the Suicide Mission, but that was stated to be open ended as to whether it was friendly or intimate. It's only after the Suicide Mission that you get her email and the option to invite her to your cabin, at which point that flag was then set.

Indeed, even Dragon Age is toted as a "dark fantasy" setting and we get all sorts of witty humour there. I would expect certain squad-mates to be more humorous in certain situations than others but I do hope ME3 isn't TOO serious. We like your humour, Bioware, you have awesome writers that know how to make us grin ear-to-ear, don't go for more drama over quality of writing, please.

Personally, I'm not a fan of this. Not understanding anything about space Cthulhu is more terrifying than understanding it's origins.

Much like Tali's face, either way will be a **** storm.

Don't find out: fans will complain that they didn't know what they were fighting. Who are we fighting? Why? HOW?! This was an issue with the Star Wars prequels; who are the Sith again? (rhetorical)
Find out: Removes the mystery and fans will say that the origin is lame.
