You didn't win the Varren, you just gave him some pyjak meat and he became your friend and fought for you in Varren pit fights. He's probably chilling on Tuchanka, but it would be cool to see him again.

If you just tap the melee button, Shep will do a strike with the current weapon. Quick repeated taps will have Shep do a rapid combo of strikes.  I don't think they've said whether or not the 2nd and 3rd attacks in the chain do extra damage, or if they're just extra animations to provide some visual variety.  If you press and hold the melee button, Shep will execute a heavy melee attack.  Depending on the class this may or may not involve the omniblade.  So far, all the classes shown use the omniblade in some fashion, except for the adept, who does a biotic palm strike instead.

The first and second strikes are about the same in terms of timing, and damage... the third strike is a bit stronger; causes slightly more damage and can cause a bigger reaction (if I remember right). These attacks don't use the omniblade, they're pistol or rifle based (basically a better looking/feeling ME2 elbow of doom). :happy:

Only the heavy melees (hold melee button) use the omniblade, and even then not for all classes... the engineer for example uses a sort of close range incinerate attack (generates a burst of fire while slashing fist backwards and upwards).

The vanguard... well... hehehe... it's satisfying.
