Can someone ask (or tell me if it's been asked already) whether or not squadmate's running animations are going to be improved? They look incredibly awkward and unnatural in all of the videos I've seen of the game so far.

I know the game is 6 months away from release but the animations looked pretty bad at E3 and still don't look any better, nearly 3 months later.

They will most likely be fixed, and it's highly likely it's the same demo from E3 they used at comic-con/gamescom/pax, but I agree look really dumb running like moneys in the new squad trailer.

Not necessarily.
It could just as easily refer to more tech or messages they left behind-- some extremely useful secret/strategy we can use to fight the reapers.

No, we're many. I think their prominent role in ME3 will be this in fact. As we know, their technology was way ahead of the current civilizations, to the point they already had a working mass relay prototype by the time of their harvest. It wouldn't surprise me that they may have discovered a technology that would help Shepard and co. to develop a weapon(cyberwarfare, space warfare, land warfare, etc., not especifically a Deus Ex Machina, which is my fear tbh) that may give them the edge against the Reapers. Idk what to think of Prothy, but they'd have to write in such a way that seems realistic in ME terms.
