Because since he found it boring and annoying, he expects Bioware to cater to him and make it have no impact, basically screwing over the ones that did take the time to look for them.

By that very loose definition, having any opinion at all counts as elitism.  So I guess lending my voice to Kabanya101 makes me an elitist too: ME1 collection quests sucked.  They don't deserve to have an impact in ME3.

Ok, that was worded badly. I meant to say that even though they were tedious and mind-numbingly boring, they should have an effect, no matter how small. Like maybe some credits or even a weapon mod.  They should have an effect for people who got them all.

Particularly, I don’t think they’ll have any impact in ME3 at all. But in case they did, that would be a form of reward for people who took the time to do them, no matter how stupid it’d seem to some others. It is Bioware’s game. Whoever designed these side quests didn’t find them stupid and if he/she wants them to have a small influence in the game, even if I didn’t do them all, I have no problem with it. You can’t please everyone all the time.

Seeing how tweeting takes about...a minute at the most, they could do it during a lunch break.

Maybe Casey? Heck, I don't know.

Anyway, we should ask if those weapon mods are necesarily better than their previous versions, we need to know wether the new mod system is linear or if it branches out at some point. Since I've got no twitter, would someone here be most kind to ask them for me, please?

"How many mods are there in total? I know there are about 57 powers according to @manveerheir"

"#ME3 has 25 weapon mods, 5 per weapon type. Each of these have multiple power levels to collect."

This needs more clarification because I read this as that we only get -1 barrel, 1 sight, 1 magazine...etc...  That only have different levels of strength?

If this is the case then what's the point in having mods if all they are is different strength versions of the same thing?

Just seems like it's the same system as ME2 but with a different interface.

just to emphasize...could someone ask for comfirmation/clarification?

I asked if the mod levels were like ME2 research upgrades, but I haven't gotten any response.

I wonder what the collection missions (Turian emblems, minerals, Asari writings, Prothean relics, etc) will do to impact the game.

If they seriously have an impact in ME3, I will be very pissed off. Who seriously wasted their time to look at every planet and scanned it just so they could complete those dumb sidequests. Especially the minerals one, that must have taken hours to complete.

From scanning planets and driving the mako on landable planets would take forever just to find all the minerals. If they have even the slightest impact, I will flip out.

I did. On all my 6 playthroughs thanks.

Same, but I only had 4 playthroughs so far.

To those who did the tedious sidequests: your ONLY motivation was seeing repercussions in another game?

Don't know about other folks, but I did it for the exploration. . . and for my silly mako stunts.

Hardly.  I muted the game, started a movie through Netflix, and blasted through them for the XP.

Nope, did them because they were ok to me and subjectively not as tedious as you felt it was. It isn't essential that has any impact but it wouldn't do you any physical harm if had some impact in ME3.

To say no to it just because you chose to not do it is being both selfish and spiteful.

Nope. I did it for the XP and because I actually enjoyed driving the Mako around. Shocking, I know.

Thanks for the answers everyone. I wasn't bashing the quests, I just quoted what the general opinion of them is here at the boards. I enjoyed doing them, too.

NOT because I was preparing to be awed by super-awesome repercussions after two years in another game.

I hope I made my point...

Because obviously all of the developers don't do anything but produce the game every minute of their lives. They already have a schedule set for making the game, they can do whatever they want in their free time. I can't believe you said that.

I finished them because I'm a completionist and NOT doing them would have HAUNTED MY DREAMS AT NIGHT. So I would dearly love some kind of reward for them, if only because I found them every bit as annoying as other people do, but suffered through them anyway. If they don't though, I'm not going to obsess over it.

So it wasn't your ONLY motive, right? Just a possible pleasantry to justify the hours spent. Thanks for answering!

I don't think it makes sense to get rewarded for collection quests from ME1 in ME3. Shepard and the Normandy were destroyed at the start of ME2. Logically, nothing he collected in ME1 would have survived and, if it did, it would have formed a bonus for ME2 not ME3.

The only thing that might logically be relevant to ME3 are the Prothean Data Disks. Assuming they were deposited with the Alliance and not destroyed with the Normandy. I can't see why anything else would have any logical carry over.

With respect to Shepard being reset to level 1 if he changes class. There seem to be conflicting reports on that one. Changing class and appearance is plausible for ME2 because Shepard was completely rebuilt so his class-specific implants and appearance could have been altered. There is no in-game logic behind a change of class or appearance in ME3 so, on that basis, I can see why it makes sense to reward continuity with a level boost while causing any substantial changes to, essentially be a new Shepard, starting from scratch.

On the other hand, if the lack of continuity doesn't bother the player maybe it's wrong to penalize them for it.

I did them because I loved exploring the planets. I didn't actually think there would be repercussions in the other games.

Plus, every time my Shepard drove up a very steep mountain or the Mako crashed down, I always imagined my squadmates facepalming at her poor driving.

Yes, I'm weird.

Pretty much this for me too. Also, I'm such a completionist I couldn't not do them just in case they did have some small impact. Now it seems I might be finally rewarded :wizard:
