I don't think it makes sense to get rewarded for collection quests from ME1 in ME3. Shepard and the Normandy were destroyed at the start of ME2. Logically, nothing he collected in ME1 would have survived and, if it did, it would have formed a bonus for ME2 not ME3.

The only thing that might logically be relevant to ME3 are the Prothean Data Disks. Assuming they were deposited with the Alliance and not destroyed with the Normandy. I can't see why anything else would have any logical carry over.

With respect to Shepard being reset to level 1 if he changes class. There seem to be conflicting reports on that one. Changing class and appearance is plausible for ME2 because Shepard was completely rebuilt so his class-specific implants and appearance could have been altered. There is no in-game logic behind a change of class or appearance in ME3 so, on that basis, I can see why it makes sense to reward continuity with a level boost while causing any substantial changes to, essentially be a new Shepard, starting from scratch.

On the other hand, if the lack of continuity doesn't bother the player maybe it's wrong to penalize them for it.

I like to be penalized for it Posted Image. For me it's just stupid to start a new game from lvl 30, because you miss half the enjoyment of developing the character which is part of the rpg. Not to mention also that is always harder from lvl 1 and some ppl me included like challenges.

OCD should NOT be rewarded. You get your useless virtual merit badge for doing dumb crap like that, and that's enough. There's no need to punish all of the sane people out there who don't want to waste 20 hours of their life tediously looking for mineral deposits, time much better spent playing the ACTUAL game.

Don't punish me by holding back content because I don't have mental health issues. The only thing the fetch quests should net you in ME3 is an E-Mail from Hackett reminding you that the Reaper threat is imminent and begging you not to waste precious time on frivolous fetch quests like you did during the Saren incident.

Hilarious.  And actually reasonable.

I'm not going to be upset if those that complete the quests in question receive a little extra dialogue with an NPC (like the cameos in ME2 of Helena Blake, Fist, and others).  Anything beyond that and I'd have to consider loading up ME1 again.

Shudder...

False.  NG+ is harder in ME2 as all of the enemies will be level ~30 and upgraded, while you're stuck without substantial upgrades for several missions.  The beginning is more challenging in NG+, but after Horizon things even out.

I was actually speaking about ME3 when i said it should be harder to start at lvl 1 then 30.. i agree with you that NG+ is harder at begging and evens later on. But this is not a thread for it so i'll leave it at that, i just hope i'll be able to start ME3 at lvl1 even if i need to change my class. ( Not a big problem, since i played all of them anyway )

You level is defaulted to 1 if you change your class on import.

Do you not think that people who actually have OCD or similar disablilities are not offended by your post? I sure would be. Why do you care if other people want to complete a game? It doesn't affect your life at all, so what do you gain from insulting them? Do you honestly thing Bioware would make something they didn't even record voice actors for a huge part of the game? Not to mention they wouldn't do something like that to PS3 players. Your comment plays you to be an extremely self-centered and ignorant person, even if you really aren't...

They have a teaser made? Must see now!

If those side quests count for something it would be the ultimate punishment for me. I'm a PS3 player, but I love the game so much that I ended up borrowing an XBox and recreating my favorite (canon) Shep and playing through ME1, doing all the side quests in the process. So even though I did them they won't carry over to 3 for me :-(

Level-wise, there was a universal penalty in ME2.

You were defaulted to 1 no matter what.

No, you still got xp bonuses for importing, with a max starting level of 5.

This is no longer true.  Apparently you keep your level, but lose other import bonuses (credits?  minerals?).

I don't think Preston would dodge the question, but isn't personal history like, the background profiles and stuff? But they shoudln't be changeable on import, so... yeah, good news overall.

I hate fetch quests, they're useless play time padding, and they're NEVER fun.

Well then here's one great tip for you: Don't do them.

Has there been any more news regarding exploration? I know various people from Bioware have said that it's an important aspect, but I'm thinking about vehicle exploration and what we can expect. Will it be similar to ME1 or ME2 or a mix between the two? I really missed those planets from ME1.

"And yes for the number of you mentioning, this functionality existed in ME2. Just streamlining and making it work with our new GUIs for ME3"

So no more Element Zero needed to respec, instead Credits are used

I was going to ask this, anyway I hope it's implemented...

I really hope we can re-spec the squad with all these new powers and combos, so I don't have to guess my way to victory.

you know, now that I read a few pages of people arguing about the side missions in ME1 and the hopeful rewards they would bring to the completionist players, I was also thinking about the mineral reserves players did in ME2... are those going to carry over to ME3? can someone ask a dev that question? in all my playthroughs I gathered very large amounts of minerals and I'd like to know if i'll be rewarded for my proactiveness :D

I'm gone for a few hours and I miss a ton of news. Still, so freaking happy. Now all I need is a shooting range on the Normandy and I will be super happy.

I think starting at level 1 would be a very different experience so I'm tempted to start a new game in ME3 without an import just to experience this. That won't stop me enjoying all my import run throughs as well, of course :)

Yes, i guess i might do the same. I vould like to have the option to de-level my character :), but if there isn't one no big deal then. I'm usually not too hard to please, so my only hope is that the game will be as hard as they say it will be on nightmare even if you start at lvl 30.

To clarify, do the same as in - try a new game to see how it goes too :)

What you can do is just only allow yourself to spend 2 points per level.  So even though you start at level 30, you act like you are starting at level 1, which means you only let yourself spend 2 squad points upon starting the game.  Good luck resisting those power evolutions though...

I was about to say that....that is, of course, assuming that they'll give us the points to tamper with and not just "auto-level" us...(but why wouldn't they)
