Also, these stats don't tell the whole story.  I have plenty of playthroughs where I nuked Kaidan, but I also have plenty where I nuked Ashley.  It's about 50/50, but in what I consider to be my canon/main playthrough I went with Kaidan without hesitation.  Kaidan is my bro, and he doesn't get enough respect.

I think that's what he means Biotic Sage. People like Kaiden, just overall folks tended to nuke him. Unlike Jacob where its a little bit more of a universal dislike. For instance I almost always got Kaiden killed but its not cause I didn't like it. I just preferred Ash around.

I also didn't enjoy replaying ME1 as much as I enjoyed ME2, that's entirely a gameplay thing though. Which basically means I don't have a ME1 import with Kaiden alive even though I kept him alive once or twice in a few partial-play throughs. Have a fresh ME2 game I plan to import to ME3, and play to make ME3 fresh starts for that kind of thing. Hopefully there's some kind of ME3 starter where I get to make that kind of a choice like they had on PS3 ME2.

I actually have met more male gamers who nuked Ashley than Kaidan. They typically give the "She's Teh Racist" reply, but I also heard reasonings that they prefered Kaidan's character and more humoursly they wanted to avoid an accidental romance with Ashley.

Personally, I romanced her on my canon run through and Kaidan remains the only major character to have fallen in my save.

My wife plays female shep and nukes Kaidan because she despises him.  She hates him more than Jacob.

And I think it is safe to say that theses stats come from a pretty good statistical sample.  Yes, some people play offline, or turn off automatic reporting, but that group is tiny.  In addition, I suspect they are not enough of a demographic outlier to substantially change the results.
