Well I agree with you there. I still say squadmate classes are no longer relevant. They mattered in ME1, but in ME2 it's more about who does well on what mission, against what enemies.
It's not: "I'm facing Collectors, I better bring an adept with me."
It's more like: "I'm facing Collectors. Who has Warp?"
Don't forget Jack. Jack has both Pull and Shockwave, her loyalty power is biotic ammo (adept + soldier, like a Vanguard), at least tried a Charge-like punch in a cutscene, also has a shotty and heavy pistol and one of her Rank4 passives

Although I entirely agree - it's more about what a squaddie can do that benefits you in a particular mission than which class they borrow the most from for ME2.
