Yeah...

And while we're at it, let's have Wrex say, "I always secretly loved Turians".
And Ashley say, "I don't really believe in God, I just made that up."
And Liara say "I'm not really a paragon, I'm a renegade!" Oh, wait...

There is an easy fix for this:

Give players an early, obvious conversation where they can lock in the "friendship" or "flirtation" paths and never the twain shall meet.

I support actual
-'Sup
and
-Flirt Shamelessly

options in ME3, inspired by this comic about the difficulty in flagging romance vs. just friends as Femshep in ME2.

If it's like this I am totally fine with S/S romance. However, if it's at all like ME2 (tell potential partner that you simply want to be friends, potential partner shuts down and refuses to talk) then I will be unbelievable PO'd.

I don't want it to be like this simply so I don't "fall into" a S/S romance accidentially (hell, who knows, I don't have to prove anything to anyone, maybe I'll even try out a S/S for the heck of it). I want  it like this so we don't have the ME2 system of "Sex or Silence".

You do realize that no LI's in either games never actually asked if you wanted to get together.. you had to initiate it.

Oh my god. Have you ever actually played the ME games?

In ME1 I once tried not talking to Ash at all in an attempt to prevent her from thinking that Shepard wanted to bone her, and I still got that scene where Ash and Liara ask me to choose between them.

In ME2 if you talk to Jack and she asks if you want sex, and you pick the "I want to be friends" option, Shepard says "I want to get to know you first" and the romance begins. If you try to say to Miranda that "it's nice to see you smile" then Shepard tells her she's got a great body and the two of them start flirting.

And don't even get me started on the femShep/Jacob romance.

Why not do what I do; avoid paragon choices as they almost ALWAYS lead to flirts, and save before convos. It's just easier until they implement convo icons a la DA2.

Actually the Jack Romance flag easily recognized. After you complete her loyalty mission, she'll flat out ask if you're interested and you're given the option to say you only want to keep it professional. Same with Miranda, after saying it's nice to see you smile, a flag occurs right after it to end the romance.

And with Jacob, sure Shep speaks with a come-hither voice, but his, more than anyone elses, you have to continue to pry to even initiate the romance.

I played the ME games. As a FemShep.

With the Jacob one you had to initiate it, same with Garrus and Thane. Kaidan was easy to avoid, and I romanced Liara in ME1, so :/.

Also.. no offense, but you don't need to start a conversation as an argument..

Hmmm, I think we're going a lot off topic here, because there are lots of threads discussing all these things.

Enh, not exactly.

Thane starts calling you a pet name before you romance him, and there's femshep's infamous "tone of voice" with Jacob that makes a huge number of Femsheps avoid ever having a conversation with him ever again (me included). Only with Garrus do you really have to push.

Also, a lot of girls have complained that if they try not to romance anyone in ME1 (usually so they don't have to "cheat" to have an ME2 romance) Kaidan sometimes just shows up in their cabin that last night.

I play Femshep too, and I think it's possible to do this sanely. But in ME2 I definitely felt like it was implied there was something between me and Jacob or me and Thane even if I didn't romance them. Garrus was good, though.

If that's the limit of your experience then you may want to reconsider making authorative statements on how the romances in the ME games work.

At E3 they have one chance to make things right and thats if they announce Miranda as a squad mate .

It won't happen I can gurantee that. It wouldn't make sense with the current storyline. We know you love Mirranda so do I but she's not a game breaking character for f***s sake.

The music from the ME2 E3 trailer was partly done by Clint Mansell? That's news to me. O_o

Er no I meant that in the FIRST ME2 gameplay demo we got to see music from Jack Wall and Sam Hullick (Thane's recruitment level)

The guy was wondering if we would get to hear music from Clint Mansell in E3

I said we probably would since there will be gameplay footage @ E3...since its the first we get to see of ME3 in action its safe to assume (based on what I said before about ME2 gameplay) that we will in fact get to hear something by Clint Mansell since hes now the one doing the music for ME3

Apologies for the confusion

if they want to put in same sex aliens/humans in ME3 ok but dont make established characters bi for the sake of it. thats my opinion call it childish but if han solo was gay/bi in RotJ I would have been confused. It wouldnt have ruined star wars, but it would have taken away from it seeing as he showed no interest in men in the first 2.

For some reason I'd be totally cool with Kaidan 'suddenly' being gay, probably because I've been familiar with the missing code in the first game for a long time.
