I won't feel insulted until more of the major decisions go down this route. Besides, for all we know there will be noteworthy ramifications of your choice in ME3 despite the outcome seemingly ripped from your hands further down the line.

It's disappointing, absolutely, but... it doesn't bother me too much. Again, so long as it doesn't become a 'repeat offender' kind of copout.

Obviously if this is one of the only things I won't be upset at all.  I just hope it's not indicative of the kind of thing we can expect from the rest of our decisions.

Sometimes I wonder if all Bioware fans are Titanic captains.

I resent the implication. I'd know an iceberg if I spotted one.

As do I, Biotic Sage.

It's definitely the kind of thing to get cautious about.

I honestly am not all that bothered by Udina retooled as Councilor, so long as it is adequately acknowledged come ME3--preferably in conversations with Anderson himself.

That, and I sincerely doubt they're going this route with any other decision. This was clearly just a "special case" which they had to alter for whatever in the story to work out as intended, which is really rather typical and common in complex story writing.

So the Councilor choice means nothing at all?

Well, might as well make Anderson Councilor simply to regain my Spectre status.

Well if the old Council is dead and put Anderson on Council, you can choose to get Spectre status.
Otherwise, you get nothing.

Also, Anderson tried to make good relationship with aliens, while Udina didn't give damn and makes situation worse( Thane loyalty).

If you save the council, they prefer to deal with Udina who has much better political experience then Anderson.  In fact, they specifically request Udina by name.

^ Not a debate about which choice is better, but about the consequences of each (or apparent lack of consequences..)

About the Anderson/Udina decision:

Since Anderson was councilor for two solid years (and got some sh*t done in that time), and since it's the only way to regain Spectre status if you (intentionally or unintentionally) nuke the old council, I will continue recommending him for the position even if Udina picks up the role in ME3.

Seriously, after hearing Udina's speech at the end of ME1 (in council-nuking playthrough), I have categorized him as not only a dirtbag, but a power-hungry, creepy dirtbag. He's only getting my vote in one playthrough, and that's my Pure Renegade run.

Creepy? the renegade alligment + council dead speech made by Udina kicks major ass. Far better than what Anderson says.

It's an adequate description.

Besides, there's never a bad time to quote Star Wars.

Anderson just got tired of the politics. Who can blame him for that? I think politics is ungodly boring too.

Exactly.

If you used Anderson's speech on a street, people would ignore you, go "whatever" and continue on with their buisness. If you used Udina's speech then people will actually listen obdidient. Then in the end wear matching uniforms and start marching.

Sure there is. You're a doctor and have just delivered a baby boy that the parents have decided to name Luke. Saying 'Luke, I am your father' would probably upset the actual father. :D
