I almost feel like we should have been forced to lose at least one squad-mate on the SM, but we are starting to veer off-topic, with the lack of substantial new information lately I'd like to read the tiny scraps of info being offered through tweets.

The lack of Virmire 2.0 in ME2 was probably its greatest loss

I hope for it to make an appearance in ME3 (if not more than once)

Come to think of it. I am actually okay with people being able to save everyone on the SM, as long as there will be virmire like decisions in ME3 no matter what.

I'd advocate for 1/ squadmate being killed on the Collector Ship / Derelict Reaper and 1-2 more forced kills on the Suicide Mission. We'd probably fall into a rotation of people eliminating the same companions over (I assume Tali, Thane and Jacob would bite the bullet often) but it would've proven the "dark second act" to be a lot darker.

Want me to get you some honey-tea? Your voice is getting a little raspy.

And I don't feel like making another choice between two people close to Shepard, if it's one person close to Shep and something/someone else that's not close to Shep, then it'd be a different story for me.

ME 2 doesn't need a forced, Virmire like scene. You can kill off most of your team as it stands.

Choosing 1 out of 12 is a lot different than 1 out of 2, but I digress. Liara seems to assume somebody dies on the SM if you do LotSB afterwards.

Unfortunately too many people want their mary sue outcomes that make the antagonists into a joke.

You forget that Wrex can also be killed on Virmire.

It a lot better Virmire than the SM, because it doesn't mean nothing to me if all the squadmates can die if I can avoit that, even on the first playtrough.
I really hope that if they're going to make some of the squadmates killable, they'll choose the Virmire route instead of the SM.

There's actually nothing wrong with having a 'SM event', but when they make it so damn easy is what pisses me off.

I do feel that way.

Well, I don't mind that there is a way to get through it without losing anyone, but that ending should have been as crazy hard to get as having everyone die. It would have been much more effective a set piece (particularly on replays) if it was very difficult to save everyone, and often involved making very difficult decisions for your Shepard.

The way the ship upgrading worked annoyed me in particular.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get 3.0 and 4.0 as well to be honest. Although those will probably involve former squadmates made temporary for ME3.

Yeah, pretty much this.

But still, a Virmire makes it more intersting and punch more emotion.

It's a matter of preference, though if the SM was an hard, difficult mission I wouldn't complain. I like difficult missions where I have to work hard to win.
Hopefully whatever they'll choose in ME3, it will not be that easy as the SM.

But for you to lose people on the SM it by and large requires you to make tactical mistakes

What was good about Virmire is it made real how a serious situation can mean sacrifices have to be made even if you do everything right

I must say that the whole "killing people to prove how serious it is" thing will get old really fast if that's the only way the game can show that the situation won't be easy to handle.

In fact, I'd find it insulting if that's the only way the game will try to prove it with, as if I can't see that with my own eyes while planets are burning, buildings are crumbling and ships are being shot down by the dozens.

I also find it funny how some people are constantly asking for critical choices while they claim that losing squadmates is a must, taking away the ability to choose in the process.

If you want people dead, make it so. That's your choice.

What's even funnier is the cheats to keep them all alive will be on the net before you can finish the game so just use the cheats and everyone will live and that will be what most people will do anyway. Or you will hear way did so an so have to die they should have killed off this person instead. Fickle people.
