"Here's a short Q&A for ME3 Multiplayer: "Should I give it a chance?" Yes. "Is that because it's awesome?" Yes. Thank you. No more questions."

Why should we take your word on that?   It was said that "Multiplayer will not be in mass effect 3"

You can't say "Take my word on it" after lieing about something.

They never said that.

Let's argue over how i paraphrased shall we?   I could find a link, but the line was basically

"We will be looking at multiplayer for all future Mass Effect games, but Mass Effect 3 is a single player experience."

Hudson said many times.

Also,

((taken from the anouncement page))

"Does the addition of co-op multiplayer missions impact the scope or quality of the single-player experience?
Answer: No."

Then earlier.........

"Success in multi-player will have a direct impact on the outcome of the single player campaign"

So the inclusion of multiplayer DOES affect the single player game.   Thats why people are upset, and rightly so.

Bioware never said multiplayer wouldn't be in ME3, they were just extremely deceitful and phrased everything they said in such a way that if they ever did introduce it (which they made out to be unlikely even though that's not true), nobody could ever say that they'd stated they wouldn't.

Bioware never lied about multiplayer. It only affects single player if you want it to affect single player. It's funny how people who like the choices offered by Bioware's games actually hate having choice other than the good guy/bad guy option. By the way, "lieing" is not a word. "Lying" is the proper spelling. It's not as if quick reply has a spell check or anything which puts a helpful red line under misspelled words. I love how the internet allows people to stop acting like adults and literally throw temper tantrums without fear of being called out. What else can you call freaking out over the addition of a new feature? If the product offends you so much then do not buy it. Any takers? No? That's what I thought. Even if 1% of you boycott, you will not be missed.
As far as multiplayer taking away from single player, Bioware has stated that they are recording 40,000 lines of dialogue for Mass Effect 3 vs. 25,000 for Mass Effect 2 vs. 20,000 in Mass Effect. That seems to be an indicator that they are not skimping on the scope of the game.

People are always going to overreact to things. Its a fact of life. Either they will try it or they won't. No need to waste your breath (or typing skills) on someone who has already made up their mind over something that they haven't tried because it goes against some preconceived notions on how they believe a thing should be.

The correct thing would be to reserve judgement until the feature is tried but some people will just hate with assumptions because that is easier.

Multiplayer will NOT have an impact on singleplayer IF YOU DON'T WANT IT TO.

They also confirmed that success can be obtained solely from singleplayer. Christ, do people read everything? Seriously.

This co-op thing is more for those people who are playing ME3 without the other two... god forbid. But that's what it is. Or it's just an alternate way of doing it. Calm down.

No they did'nt lye about the the multiplayer, they just carefully phrased everything.

I for one have no negative opnion about the addition of the multiplayer, i just don't like being jerked around.  No one does.    Lieeing does that.  Jerks people around..... if you Li to someone.

Unfortunately the solution is not just a simple "if it offends you just don't buy it."  Because a lot of people want to buy the game.  It's an amazing frnachise and people do not want it to fall short.

I don't even really care if Bioware Lyed about the inclusion of multiplayer or if they just carefully worded it.  I just like to have the straight story.

Absolutely not, I'm just getting tired of this "multiplayer will have an impact on singleplayer thing" which isn't entirely true. I will cease talking about MP here now.

The 40,0000 lines of dialogue is the comibination of ME2 and all it's DLC.  There is no dialogue estimate for ME3 as or yet. That was a mistake corrected in this very thread.  That said, since they HAVE to put MP in the game, this is probably the best solution.  Aside form MP, the GaW thing does sound interesting though.

You just said they didn't lie and then said that you don't like to be jerked around by Bioware since they lied about MP.

WTH? <_<

Bioware has the RIGHT to say "Maybe" especially if they weren't sure yet. It was a pending decision and as a result they gave vague answers that basically said "Perhaps". How can you go straight if the decision isn't final? :?

I acutally typed that sentence to poke fun at the guy who launched a merciless crusade against my mispelling of lyeing (i spelled it wrong on purpose again)  The purpose of that sentence was to give me more oppurtunities to mispell the word...  Sorry you took it the wrong way.

As someone rightfully mentioned above, this is'nt the multiplayer thread........... That and I don't like arguing semantics.   I herby withdraw myself from this debate.

Bingo. They certainly never outright ruled it out, but the impression given was certainly intentional. They know full well that a large number of their customers are SOLIDLY AGAINST any form of MP. They know they have issues with a lot of their long-time core fans being unhapy about their "Call of Duty" crowd love letters. Casey all but acknowledged as much when he said that the coop/mp would not be what people were "afraid" of.

Bioware did the professional politician approach here. The weasel answer. Yes, they never COMPLETELY ruled it out, but they sure as heck strngly implied that our ME3 wouldn't be tainted by this continual crap.

"Success in multi-player will have a direct impact on the outcome of the single player campaign"

Well, to play devil's advocate, the two aren't necessarily mutually esclusive...
It probably means that playing the co-op will have some consequence in the world of ME 3, but just because one doesn't play it doesn't mean his or her single player campaign will be worse, harder or less intense while playing...

It may be reductive to say so (and also wrong), but think of it as some sort of special DLC that opens new options to get to the same results...
Like say, you walk down a road and there's a massive rock blocking it, in single player you have two options:
- find a way around it
- blow it up

With co-op you obtain a third option:
- your specialist squad investigates logistic problems and has a mission devoted to clearing the road from massive rocks by physically moving them around...

Result is the same: you proceed along the road...
Playing experience is the same in essence: you have a mission (whether in co-op or single player), were you have to overcome the rock obstacle somehow...

In my opinion is probably something like this... :P

EDIT

Sometimes I think this thread should be limited to Vertigo's posts only... I mean, he's the one that posts all the tweets, which is actually what this thread is about, while the rest of BSN (including myself) only tends to spam this thread with our off-topicness.

Can someone ask if we can play the co-op offline with bots as ower teammates, seeing as alot of co-op games feature this, and seeing as ME has more emphasis on singleplayer than say Left 4 dead I assume it is (or atleast should be) a option.

As stated before, however, multiplayer remains separated from the single-player campaign.  Neither Shepard nor key characters will be showing up in the co-op, and not participating in multiplayer won't negatively impact the main story in any way.  In short, your actions in multiplayer can only bolster the single-player experience and will not detract from it.
