Samara and Jack turned out really well, but I think that may have something to do with them "fitting" the facial animations well--they both have large eyes, high cheekbones, and mouths roughly in the same position on the face. Miranda's face is much softer and rounder, her eyes smaller, and the distance between her mouth and eyes much longer. All three are beautiful women, but when you try to fit Yvonne's very unique facial structure into an animation rig that's been generalized for multiple characters, you get weirdness. For example, all three women have large front teeth, but because Miranda's mouth is positioned differently, she seems to bear her teeth more often.
That and Miri's more rounded, softer face is more likely to clash with the sharp shadows.
I am seriously staring at screenshots as I do this. Here, take a look:
