It's a mining base, apparently--which screams Prothean artifact/tech to me.

If it's another beacon, I will giggle forever.

And then Nihlus comes back to life to be shot again, for old times' sake.

If Kaidan is going to touch that thing again... favourite character or not, I'll need in renegade interrupt.

How would a Prothean ever survive for 50,000 years, only to become a squadmate?! All the others on Ilos died in a muc shorter time than that!

Well Mars has something on it that deals with Protheans

Wasn't the first Prothean artifacts discovered by humanity on Mars?

Really hope there isn't a live Prothean there, though, Anderson said it was "just a small data cache" that was found.

That's right, Iakus. Which is why (I think) we're returning in the first place.

I think you guys should read this.

Besides, any Prothean tech would be useless since, well, they failed to stop Reapers.
What tech would be useful from them against the Reapers, but they couldn't do it themselves and for that data humanity couldn't find out about Reapers and how to stop them?

Also could anyone tell me will be there bigger armor selection this time.

^It is possible for them to make ME1 remake, but that game is only 4-5 years old.

Remakes usually take a decade.

As for armors?
It's going to be the same as ME2, only with more armor pieces while squadmates will have casual and armors with possibly to change armor pieces for them too.

It's kind of iconic, so yeah, I would assume so.

Well it's obviously visually modified, but it will still be N7 armor.

I don't know if it would be useless, but I agree that anything besides an immediate, usable gain would be utterly futile while in the midst of fighting the reapers. The time for research is mostly passed.

Just because they failed to stop the Reapers doesn't mean that any research that made about them would be useless to the species that came after the Protheans' time (after all, it was the Protheans' research into the Reapers connection to the Citadel and the Keepers that allowed them to alter the Keepers programming from summoning the Reapers to the Citadel, which bought time for the future civilations from the Reapers invasion).

Some protheans hid in those underground facilities, like Ilos, so maybe some of them did found a way to destroy the reapers threat and they could not make the plan succeed because most of them either fall or were turned into husks, so they left their weapon or something for other species to find and prepare.

And that only delayed Reapers and if there wasn't Shepard that thing Prothean scientist would have been useless.

Pure luck bought galaxy few years to prepare against the Reapers and that's it.

Hey researching an awesome new cannon is great, too bad that by the time it takes to research it, manufacture, and refit all the ships that can use it the war will have been decided one way or another.

If you are talking about knowing reaper weaknesses, that's not the kind of research I am talking about. Knowing when, how, or where you need to hit a reaper is different from digging into old prothean sites hoping they have the answer.

If it turns out mars is the key to stopping the reapers I am going to facepalm hard.

As I said before, unless the protheans left some sort of prebuilt weapon or support facility intact, it will be mostly useless. Lets say we find weapon tech from the protheans. By the time you reverse engineer the tech to intergrate with out own, figure out how and where you are going to manufacture the tech , figure out how you are going to bring back the ship(s) from the war effor to refit them, then send them out again to do battle...

Time is as much a resource as anything else in this war. You need to fight the reapers before they can do enough damage to your infastructure (government, food, manufacturing) to where you would not be able to fight back, even with a weapon.

People are getting to hung up on the "living protheans means they'll have the secret to defeating the Reapers!!!11!"-idea. Not that such a notion is impossible, but I admit that I don't like the implications of it either. I want the protheans (if there are any) to be about their people/culture and about their struggle and how they have coped with it, not how well they have researched the reapers and their weaknesses the last 50ky. That's just cheap.

I agree with you here, we still don't know much about preotheans despite shep apparently having the brain of one now.

I would ask about this on twitter, but bioware (thankfully) isn't talking about story.

And god bless 'em. They have really come around after that horribly spoilerrific ME2 marketing.
