"A few precious meeting-free in-office hours today netted me some really good steps forward. Big branch-y conversation done!"

Wait, they're still working on conversations? Man, I'm really glad it got pushed back to March now.

Dialogue is one of the last things put in place in a game. This is the case for 95% of all games with voice acting.

Yeah, but the fact that they're working on it now means that if they were still going with the original release date, either dialogue or some other aspects of the game would have been rushed to make the deadline.  Extra time = more time to make it better ^_^

Of course, it could just as well be time spent polishing a rock that can't get any shinier. As much as we all want to deny it, time is money.

I understand that, and let me amend my statement:

All games mentioned by the guy I quoted are unrelated to Mass Effect in almost every way. Therefore his assumption is not supported by anything. Mine, while still an assumption, at least provides a more likely scenario. My point was that while EA studios are independent, they are known to work closely with one another at times. Furthermore, we are specifically talking about multiplayer, which I firmly believe the publisher has far more interest (and thus sway) in than single player. I'm NOT saying splitscreen won't be there. But based on experience with other EA games, I have my doubts as to whether it will be.

...I'm fairly certain I could have made that entire point in way feweer words too...

Actually 4 of the titles I mentioned use Unreal Engine 3 (Mass Effect also uses Unreal Engine 3).  3 of those games are Gears of War... which has the closest gameplay (by far) to Mass Effect.  All 3 of those titles using the same engine and having very similar gameplay had split screen co-op as a feature.  Gears is also well known for its online multiplayer... but that didn't stop split screen from happening.

DICE helped them with the audio system... but the engine itself is still very much the territory of Epic Games.

Not really.  It was much more informal than that.  Effectively what happened was that the ME people got together with the DICE people and they all talked shop.  DICE never did any actual work on ME3, and it wasn't a one-way exchange where Bioware said "Please help!" and DICE said "OK: do this and this and that."

Well that explains a lot.

can`t wait to hear examples of Clint Mansell music, but they right- that might be big spoiler

Yeah thats true (but calling it a "big spoiler" its a slight exaggeration for me ^_^), but they can show us something slight more "masseffectish" (electronical/orchestral) not only one short piano piece.

So... anybody eager to ask question about music from my previous post? :)

I suspect that they discussed over it during lunch breaks. If so, that would mean that Pop Cap also gave some tips to BioWare about the mini-games, which would be great.

Peggle bypass is probably better than what they had in ME2.

My point was that EA studios work together sometimes, and we know this happens. Furthermore, what engine a game uses has nothing to do with whether it has splitscreen or not. That is a design decision. Yes Gears is almost absurdly similar to mass effect in terms of gameplay. That does NOT MEAN ME3 must have splitscreen.

And now I'm done arguing. Counter, or don't, I'm in the wrong thread for this. my own fault for actually starting the arguement in the first place *facepalm*

Could someone ask: What's the in-game timeline of ME3? Will it take place over the course of years or months?

Can someone ask if they've balanced the Incisor for the N7 DLC part of the CE?

Because the Incisor was a piece of crap in ME2 when Shepard used it.

It's pretty cool to think that, within ~ the next 18 weeks, we will get 3 more ME Invasion comics, a new ME book, a massive ME artbook, and ME3... woot!

and compare that to the past 18 weeks, where we got very little, that is why i am excited

I'm sure it has something to do with shipping/ approval/ other things I'm not thinking about... I would stay away from the forums starting March 5th so you don't inadvertantly ruin things for yourself

sh*t. Really? I hated pyros on ME2 (I'm sure everyone remembers Garrus' recruitment mission). I really hope they're not going to be that annoying. Shepard would stand there (stupidly) for 5 minutes trying to smother the fire on him while the pyromaniac just blasts your face with more fire.
