It increased the batarians' hostility towards humanity. I haven't read any leaks so I have no idea how relevant it will be.DTKT wrote...

Oh the hate speech that Arrival being nominated and even worse, winning, will cause.
I agree that LotSB is the superior ME2 experience though, with Overlord pulling a close second. Arrival did have its moments of brilliance though, and would be deserving of an award.
Arrival did have some great moments. Enemies actually acknowledging shep as the scary force of nature we are constantly told he is, beautiful vistas (I dare say it has the most beautiful enviroments than any other ME content yet), a brief glimps of batarian life, and finally hackette. (I honestly don't see much of zaeed in him, but thats just me.)
It wasn't the best DLC (LOTSB still holds me there) but I can honestly say I had fun with it despite all the derpy moments. (Why the hell are you keeping shep UNSHACKLED in the SECURITY ROOM?)
But Arrival was totally irrelevant in terms of story. It had no impact whatsoever.

That's precisely what makes it relevant; it may not have been relevant to ME2's story but it was VERY relevant to the overarching plot of the trilogy. Hence, it is a central part of the overall story.LGTX wrote...

If anything, it's ME2's baseline story which was irrelevant.

Arrival is more relevant to the story of Mass Effect than the plot of Mass Effect 2. ME2 is 40+ hours of side missions.

That's kind-of what I meant. I should have mentioned "ME2" up there somewhere

But everything they presented could have been told through a single 3 minutes cut-scene. It didn't need to exist.

Anyone else getting flashbacks to the double Atlas fight? I'd kill them both, and then let my guard down and get ganked by the four people that would come through the door
Now why does that sound so familiar?

Not really ME3 related, but this was actually an awesome read....and makes me feel a bit ashamed for having Bioware to put up with us. (read #5, it just screams BSN)

That is why it was perfect for an optional DLC.

I'm happy to sample the end product, but couldn't imagine the stress and pressure from working on one, especially a high profile one with a lot of expectations...

Haha, ah man. I guess it really depends on the context.
I used to work for a videogame company that has one of the studios here in Argentina and the business-related one in L.A. From personal experience, it all depends on the workplace. I was fortunate enough to get super dope co-workers who, as doubtlessly talented and responsible as they were, had a good sense of humor, would play Left 4 Dead during lunch-break altogether and luckily had no stick up their butts. I had a blast working there because if there was an idea you could bring it up, we'd sketch it, tweak it, and get it in the game to see how it looked. If it worked, awesome, if not, that's fine, at least we tried. Maybe though they were just being easy on me because I was the youngest.
I'm about to graduate HS in little less than a month and then it's back to work.
Now, working for a super mega huge international video-game company that requires you to move... stress overload ahead. D:

Daayuuuuuuum, I didnt' think it THAT bad in the video game industry.
My favorite part:
-“You make video games? Wow! That’s awesome! What do you do?”
-“I’m a tester.”
-“Wow! A tester! Lucky guy, getting to play video games all day.”
-“Actually, I just play one game every day. I’ve played it for a year
now. I know every inch of every map. I know every secret, every lie that
has been stitched into a universe made of empty polygons. I know how to
melt down the entire network with one wrong item in my inventory. Every
night, I dream of looped sound and text overruns. My wife left me after
she tried to spice up our marriage and I said her dress wouldn’t fit ESRB
guidelines. I sometimes wonder if I am a character in a crueler video
game. A video game about testers. And the only reason I have not killed
myself is because I’m afraid that in this video game, there are
continues.”
-“Wow, how do you even get a job in video games?”
-“Craigslist.”
