Very minor, in my opinion. Most of the scenes we've seen from the convention demos, with only a couple exceptions(mainly the one with the Reaper and fighter(s)), and those didn't exactly reveal much.

Yup. They basically reuse the same general set of scenes for every episode, regardless of what the episode is about.

However, at the end of the episode, at the 3:45 mark, you see two other squadmates with Shepard and Liara.  I thought it was Tali and Garrus, but I am not sure about that.

I'd guess that the purple is missing hair textures, i.e. Ash's new long hair and Vega's fauxhawk.

I think what David meant to say is when they started conceptualizing Mass Effect, which was indeed about eight years back. As usual, he just butchered the meaning and called it a day.
