I found it strange how nobody mentioned it whilst I was thinking it the whole game, lol. But yeah the VS knew Shepard died and is now working for Cerberus, they must assume something unethical happened here, that always seems to be the case with Cerberus.

Since when does "rebuilt me" means being brought back alive from death?

At best, they can assume Shepard was in coma( which Shepard actually says) and some of his/hers body parts were replaced.


And no, nobody but Cerberus, Shadow Broker, Collectors, Reapers and Liara knew Shepard died.


And that's only after Shadow Broker find that first when Collectors asked to bring them Shepard's body an the rest followed.



Shepard was officially MIA, just Council wanted Shepard gone to shut down any reference to Reapers and said he/she is KIA despite no body was found.


Last person who seen Shepard alive is Joker and he had no idea what really happen to Shepard until Cerberus called him to work for them.

WHen you see someone crashing down to the planet below, it is hard to think that he is anything but dead.

This is exactly why Shepard was sent on that stupid mission where the Collectors attacked SR1, because they wanted Shepard and his Reaper Theory off the Citadel. SR1 being destroyed with Shepard missing was perfect for them to call him KIA.  But I always wondered since the SR1 is suppose to be stealth ship and the mission was problay not one everyone knew about, do you think we will find out in ME3 that someone on the inside sold the Collectors the mission details. I only say that because it does seem a bit too convient on the Councils behalf that SR1 was attacked and the ship was a Stealth ship too.

Pretty sure he did, telling Ash, "Hey there, Cerberus is helping save colonies because no one else gives an Eff, and we're doing this for the people, you should join us, Cerberus is doing tyhe right thing here..."

And Ash responds with her normally masterfully written ideas, "Did you think CERBERUS AND COLLECTORS are working together!? THey are using and tricking you and brain washing you Shepard-kun! Angst Angst misdirected loyalty rant angst complain whine whin QQ."

Speaking in the context of ME2. As in, "Cerberus are the good guys"< Actualy conversation Quote.
And in ME2, Cerberus pulls out all the stops to end the Reapers and Collectors, so inbetween ME2 and 3 something changes that makes them switch sides.

Or just the entire organization was horridly written.
