Question:
So is the new voice actor to same as the E3 demo or the leaked beta?
If its the E3 voice- I'd be ok with it. While its not M.B, but it was still a good VO job. Similar to the original in some ways.
If its the same voice as the beta - oh dear, i'll cry.
Btw - Yes, Legion has the same VA. According to demos at this years' E3 and such - Same voice

E3 Demo was Mark Meer but he isn't doing Mordins voice for the final game.
It's likely going to be what we heard in the Beta leak.

Hmmmmmm, I must go back and find a piece of the beta. Need to hear Mordin. I didnt really watch it - im avoiding spoilers. I'll sneak around to see if I can actually hear em.
*2 minutes later*
Alright, im ok with it! Its actually pretty darn good. Or at least in the small part i heard when Shepard meets him XP
*sigh* Imma miss our original scientist salarian.

Heck, even back in E3 - i was watching it as i chatted with ppl on BSN thru skype voice chat, and we all noticed his voice wasnt the same. Same goes with the beta. Well, ive played me2 almost religiously. I guess its more obvious to the ppl who KNOW the voices by memory.
Still, if we had to get a substitute - the beta one really isnt all that bad.

Sorry, but what "important stuff" is is different for different people. For me immersion and consistency is important, as well as characterisation when it comes to characters I like. If it were Brandon Keener or Liz Sroka suddenly not reprising their roles without explanation when it's known the VO loved voicing their character, I imagine there would be a rather big outcry and many wouldn't consider it "not important."

"Wanted to do 8-10 in office. Not up for another midnight. Leaving now, and office still full of folks."
When games get really close to gold, 18 hour days are the norm. Or at least they were at the company my husband used to work at. There were times they would be working closer to 20 hours and take turns on the couch in the QA area. I used to bring him take out so that he had something other than just pizza (which he still hates) and hang out with my knitting, just so that I could spend time with him. And this could go on for weeks. One time, 24 hours prior to a release, when I hadn't heard from him for a week I went to his office, threated him with bodily harm, brought him home and he slept for 30 hours. Crunch time is BRUTAL!
So to everyone at Bioware, make sure to get lots of rest and pleanty of real food. The game will be better for it. And I for one am willing to have a few bugs in exchange for knowing you guys kept your health and sanity.
Regards,
A former QA girlfriend
Wow. This should be required reading for anyone who dares to call game developers lazy.
What about developers like Bethesda who purposely release bug ridden games to meet the release date, letting stuff pass through the Q/A so they can print said game in time for said release date. Hoping their day one patch would fix the problem but it doesnt, than releasing a patch that breaks the game for people who werent even having problems.
Skyrim came out 11-11-11 and for most PS3 players the game is still unplayable.

Speak for yourself. It just sounded like a bad imposter to me. Whoever it was just couldn't get the timing and nuance of Mordin's manner of speaking right. It wasn't God-awful, and some lines were close, but overall it was obvious and off-putting. Reminded me of Sean Connery impersonators who can't do his voice outside of the "S" words basically.

Not as bad as Marvel changing who plays Bruce Banner every movie the Hulk is in.

You mustve heard the whole beta than. I only hear like 3 lines to get an idea of the voice actor and they were quite close [as like u mentioned]. I would like to hear the rest of the mission, but i rather avoid as many spoilers as possible. Then again, as a side note - we dont know if they re-voiced that part or anything to make it better. We dont know if thats the final voice, if effects were added in or not. Im also deeply saddened that MB isnt going to be reprising his role as our fav salarian. He's among my top fav characters too so you know.Terror_K wrote...

i'm guessing he wanted more money, or bioware wasn't willing to match his expectations...bottom line: $
Sure... they can waste money adding Kinect support and multiplayer, and probably even hiring at least a few more well known voice-actors for some roles we don't even know about yet, but they can't afford to bring back the original Mordin, who let's face it couldn't be as pricey as the likes of Martin Sheen, Seth Green, Keith David and Yvonne. <_<

can't say for sure how much he was asking for... maybe he himself held out for a higher price, something Bioware thought wasn't worth... maybe he was asking for just as much as Martin Sheen, for a smaller role? it's all speculation... if it's $ at all is speculation, but that's what i believe, and it does usually come down to money in instances like this.... and "waste money adding Kinect support and MP" is just your opinion... kinect support may end up being just as great as the devs who tweet about it say it is, same as MP

While I'd be willing to concede that depending on how things turn out that MP may be okay, Kinect is just a massive waste of time in every respect. Not just with Mass Effect, but with any hardcore, AAA title. Kinect is one of many things from Microsoft that should just rot and die alone in a corner and be forgotten about forever. BioWare are either stupid or complete tools to have even considered it for ME2, let alone actuall put it in and wasted time on it.

It was probably legitimate. After giving them some medical advice on how to (not) improve the relationship, he merely swooped to pick up the pieces! Not his fault they listened to his advice.

So far all reports beyond Mordin/Beattie have the characters voiced by their original VA (except maybe if they bring back anybody Francesco Quinn voiced).

Bummed about Mordin's VA. Makes me sad. Meer's work was good; whoever voiced Mordin in the beta sounded weird [to me].
