Where did you obtain this information?

It was a tweet from one of the devs. I don't remember where.

Strange, I definitely don't remember it. I might have simply missed it but I'll go ahead and try to grab one of their ears about it. I tweeted Mr. Watamaniuk a few weeks ago concerning the number of discs and he never got back to me. I shall try again.

I'm delighted if it's true; I'd be even happier with three discs. More discs = more content in BioWare's case

Yea! I wish I could remember where I seen it, but It does make sense that if ME2 was two discs this one would be too, consider it's a much bigger game.

believe it or not i was hoping it be 3 discs honestly because if that were done imagine how much more content we would get in the game.

another thing is i think dlc will be playing a very big part in me3

I quite like multi disc games. Reminds me of the good old PS1 days when you had things like FF7 and such :)

Heh, yeah, same here. And FFVIII, FFIX and The Legend of Dragoon all had four discs! Good times. But disc numbers don't always correlate directly to game length, of course. Xenogears, another Squaresoft game like the FFs, was two discs and much longer than any of the PSX trilogy FFs. It's often the amount of prerendered cutscenes, indicative of a high budget in those days especially, that really bloats disc size. This can be seen in these days as well, with Skyrim's single disc versus ME2's two.

"Do you explain scenes/give context for the Voice Over Director/Actors? Do you ever re-write lines because of a VO session?"

"Yup. Every scene has a sitsyn (situation synopsis) and each line has a field for VO comments or cine direction from the writer."

"How closely do you work with the Voice Over director and her team?"

"Extremely closely. We work together when casting & I (and the other writers) often attend the VO sessions, to answer questions."

"How do you balance a narrative that is epic in scale but has to be told from the gameplay perspective of one squad?"

"There's a few different ways, but the most obvious is that Shepard always seems to be where the action is. #BecauseTheyAreShepard"

"Will see references to characters who have died? Some of my favorite scenes in the second Mass Effect involved this."

"Major characters will definitely be referenced in various ways if they died in #ME2 or #ME1. #ME3"

Yeah, I actually bumped into the January 11th one first since I was going backwards and all. Thanks for the direct links, though. That should help others like myself who missed out on the info entirely.

Lol I know, stupid college and working part-time. And I get burnt out on this place anyway. I think most of us do, although Vertigo manages to keep truding along at warp speed despite it. :P

@JeffZero: Yeah disc space stuff can get crazy with pre-rendered stuff. Though ME series has had some its only ever a few seconds long (or some intro thing). Most of the space being taken up, especially on ME2, is how Unreal engine for consoles handles levels. Ends up being a lot of copied content. I mean think about it, they basically had the entire Normandy lines for every squad member, voicing and all that on both discs. You could get any line of dialog out of any of them on either of it regardless of where you where on the story.

It was a thing they did for Gears where all the information is put into a single ring on the disc for any given level to make load times faster and make it easier to stream information. Kinda like a music CD when you think about it. Instead of it having to jump around to different parts to load different pieces (which makes things like DAO load horribly slow off disc) it just moves down the line with a gears game.

ME1-3 isn't as linear though, ends up making a lot of copied space... not sure if they used that same feature exactly for ME1-2 but they did mention back then how the engine handles things which causes that kind of copied content. Which really eats into disc space in a game like this.

Least with something like Gears, again, each level contains all the monster models, gun models, sounds that could possibly show up. Just imagine that copied over 20 times heh.

I don't mind five discs as long as I can install four of them, and be able to keep one disc in for the whole game.

I tweeted Mac Walters: Assuming there is New Game+ with ME3; During the Dialogue will there be a highlight or an indicator showing what our previous choice was.
I think this would be a slightly beneficial option during the next playthrough.
