@Vapaä : Right, Vega... forgot he had it. Ah well, I know there's temp squadies and I know they have bonus powers! And I know there's a lot of.. them, and.. Ah well. Now I just hope the person who thinks you have to 'beat the game' to use bonus powers is horribly wrong. ME1 you had to make a new char to take advantage of it but you didn't have to 'beat the game'. So I did a few chars to get the achievements so I could use the bonus powers on the chars I actually wanted to make.

ME2 I preferred how that was handled as you could get it mid game not just on a new char. 99% sure that's the model there going with. Not sure how we'll earn the bonus powers though. Very curious on that. Would be nice if just meeting them activated it and you just had to wait to a certain point in the game to spend the ezo on it (and of course new chars).

I don’t understand why this thread and the new announcements can’t coexist as sticky near the top of the page. Is not like it’s gonna steal space from the announcements. Most fans including myself come here for information anyways. It’s not coincidence it’s 600 pages long. I find this unstikied arbitrary. IMHO

Do we really know that temporary squademates give bonus powers ? I mean, I don't know about it but if they do...that would make a crapload of powers ! :blink: With the DLC squaddie we're already reaching 14 bonus powers ! Maybe BW found a way to somehow give us the remaining ME2 powers (flashbang, GSB, etc...)

Considering this is the general discussions forum, not the news and announcements forum...:?

Oh well, moving on.  I wonder what the decision was to not reincorporate hoppers in ME3...seems like they would fit the play style of ME3 more than it did with ME1.  Will probably ask of this after we see more of the geth (after all, knowing they aren't in indicates I know a lot more than that...) with all the promotional material coming in.

Like half a year ago 'somewhere' in this thread they mentioned the total number of Shepards powers and total bonus powers. And both where over 20. 7 Squadies, 2 each that's only 14. Which is already 2 more then ME2 had. I vaguely remember it being an odd number of powers though. But maybe that was Shepards. I should count up total Shep-powers again see if that helps jog my memory any.

That or search this nearly 600 paged thread for the information... *shudders* but I'm positive it was more then 14 so.. yes >.>

Make that 16 bonus powers from perms we know of, forgot VS is 2 heh. Always forget to carry the 2...

Yeah ok so that's... 31-36 (depending if you want or count fitness 6 times or just once) for Shepard 'powers'. 16 bonus from Squaders we know. If it's in the 20s that would have to be from temporaries or side-quest related. And they've stated few times they're doing more LotSB like stuff with temporaries showing up more often in general.

Soo... make of that what you will I guess =P

57 total powers according to Manveer Heir.

12 x Unique class Powers (6 from ME2, plus 6 grenade powers)
6 x Fitness Variants
6 x Mastery Variants
4 x Combat Powers
4 x Biotic Powers
4 x Tech Powers

36 Total "Shepard" Powers

57 - 36 = 21 Remaining Powers

3 Powers per Squadmember (2 Bonus Powers plus their Mastery Power)

Comes out to seven squadmates: Garrus, Tali, Liara, Kaidan, Ashley, James, Unannounced.

Now seeing as Garrus, Tali, Kaidan, and Ashley can all be dead, it stands to reason that we MIGHT be able to acquire their bonus powers from temporary squadmates, but that's a bit of a leap.

Bwah-ha-ha-haaa.. least my memory wasn't to far off. 21 is definitely an odd one. And the powers thread lists 16 bonus powers, but the last 2 maybe from the DLC one I guess.

So that's either 1 power per 5-7 temps, or like you said some shared stuff. Though there should be more then 2 powers + Passive. Liara, for instance, has Singularity, Statis, Biotic Ammo and her Passive. So should be 3 powers + passive. I mean they've said theres 'more choice with squadmates' would be awkward to actually have 'less' then ME2 heh. They all had 4 total (including passive).

Anyway definitely curious how much extra temps that means, and if that 21 counts the DLC char or not.

Oh I see what you mean, 3 unique power/passive for the 7 squadies available = 21. So... Yeah. Always thought that was total bonus powers, ah well.

Got to say, I for one am not unhappy to see the hoppers go. I am just replaying ME1 ATM and I don't like them at all. I think they are quite boring to fight because in the end, you have to either incapacitate them with powers or aim your gun at a spot where you know they'll show up eventually and wait for them.
If they were to make a return, I'd say their movement system would need a complete overhaul. I can see why that is too much work and I am happy not to see them again.
Besides, the ME1 codex mentions that pretty much everyone found it weird that the geth would use a design that brings them closer to organics with the hopper class units. Maybe they just realized it's the wrong way to go and canceled that branch of their "evolution". Or maybe it was design specifically implemented by Sovereign/Nazara (the reapers seem to like organic designs after all) and was only used by Saren's heretics.

Yeah, 14 total bonus powers it looks like, and probably 2 more from the CE bonus character. Personally, I think that's a pretty good number. All told, that's 40 active combat powers each coming in 8 different flavors depending on how you evolve them. That's a lot of variety. By comparison, ME2 has 32 active combat powers including all DLC, and at only 2 evolutions per, of course.

Oh yeah it's a fantastic amount no doubt there. But I'd still take more if they had it. But yeah... crazy amount of customizability going on in ME3 - and not just the powers you know? Good times comin' are way.
