I'm unsure what to believe at this point. Needless to say it'd be a pretty enormous omition to the sequel.

How in the hell do I keep Kirrahe alive!?

Doing all the things to help them on Virmire will definitely get the job done.

I believe all you HAVE to do is disable/destroy the Geth flyers on the right side of the base approach and that will keep him alive.

The other options just get you paragon poinst or, in the case of triggering alarms at the fron tof the base, renegade points.

Not 100% on that, but pretty sure.

Well in all the demo shots I've seen of dialog they're all essentially paragon option, renegade option, investigate.

Tazz, I appreciate the leg work, but aren't pretty much ALL of those images the same as things we've been seeing for months?

Alright, I thought you were but I didn't want to assume anything. I'll be honest, with how the stakes of the game are set up I can understand and support the reason if they got rid of the neutral option and whatnot.

You can't be in the middle or wishy washy when you're dealing with war you know? You make a choice thinking that's the best result and you live with it. It won't be easy, the choice shouldn't be easy.

If that's where they're taking it, I can honestly ride for that.

It's just the demo though, so we won't know until the full game.

Yeah I have to admit I'm sort of in the same mindset. The Neutral option has always sort of also been the rushed option also. Neutral to your paragon renegade score but not really offering anything in the way of conversation, instead it just moved you to the next topic.  The top or bottom choices have always been the real meat of the conversations. That and the investigation option, which seems to still be there.

Regardless though, it is a curious thing.

The middle option was usually the most no nonsense, least wishy washy option

She means wishy washy in the sense that it didn't commit you to one side or the other. And arguably nintey percent of the time the middle option technically resulted in Shepard saying "Whatever" or an equivalent word and the person you're engaging in conversation moving immediatly to the next topic.

It's hard for me to think of a time where the middle option really ever resulted in a entirely different conversation aside from it just bringing me to the next topic.

Don't get me wrong, if the middle option is gone I'll still mourn it...

I guess, but it's not full on the tease. I thought we would have something darker and depressing for the menu, but I really like this one

Hey, what's with the people worrying about a possible lack of the middle dialogue option? They haven't removed it, have they? It wouldn't make any sense in a C&C RPG... I was actually hoping they'd finally go for a meaningful, interesting middle option that'd be actually worth choosing. I mean, in ME1 and 2 you had to be either paragon or renegade to be able to use persuasion, I was just looking forward to ME3 changing this so you'd have three viable choices in every situation... I played only the DA2 demo, but that featured three distinct dialogue options for every choice. Why u no do that as well ME3?

/cancels preorder over a random rumour and starts crying

no - main theme is often main menu theme - at least it aplied for ME 2 - main theme was same as suicide mission track - just had slightly different beggining.

Thing is, in ME1, a LOT of the conversations options are the same

-- Sometimes all 3 choices are the same, which is the same as autodialogue
-- Sometimes all 3 choices were actually different
-- More often than that, 2 out of 3 choices were the same, so really there were only 2 choices

In ME2 they seemed to do away with the illusion of choice and presented your options how they actually were e.g. rather than pretend you had 3 choices for the same dialogue they would just auto it instead - whic h obviously makes sense and doesn't waste the player's time when re-loading conversations to exhaust every bit of dialogue (and believe me I've done that big-time with ME1).

What would you say is the best part of the demo? It could be anything: Gameplay, story moment, character interaction, audio, etc.

The audio is my favorite, has a lot more "oomph" to it now for sure and the music is just fantastic. Gameplay is much more streamlined and it just FEELS good. Rolling around everywhere was a blast and the guns definitely have weight to them. I often got close to dying at the end of Sur'Kesh with the mech and other enemies, even on normal, so i'm not worried about it being a challenge either.

Overall the game just feels SO MUCH MORE EPIC and the scale is off the charts. Not to sound all fanboy'ish here, but it really does feel like you're out to save the galaxy and that you're just a small little pawn in this huge war going on around you.

Thanks for the reply. One more question:

Are the facial and lip sync animations good? People who are playing the demo are saying they are the worst of the series. I know we've seen some stiff animations in trailers, but is it the same in the demo?

Come now, we've already seen drastic improvements first hand in one case. I remember all the complaints and worries about characters being wooden when we first saw that fight between Vega and Shepard.

Then the next time we see it, it looks about a hundred times better than it did before.

At this point if people are saying that ME3 has wooden expressions or terrible lip syncing, perhaps they either are expecting too much, or they're just seeing old footage.
