I am a little worried about the whole "Only two dialog options" thing now.

Alright, what are we talking about here?

Well in all the demo shots I've seen of dialog they're all essentially paragon option, renegade option, investigate.

Alright, I thought you were but I didn't want to assume anything. I'll be honest, with how the stakes of the game are set up I can understand and support the reason if they got rid of the neutral option and whatnot.

You can't be in the middle or wishy washy when you're dealing with war you know? You make a choice thinking that's the best result and you live with it. It won't be easy, the choice shouldn't be easy.

If that's where they're taking it, I can honestly ride for that.

It's just the demo though, so we won't know until the full game.

Yeah I have to admit I'm sort of in the same mindset. The Neutral option has always sort of also been the rushed option also. Neutral to your paragon renegade score but not really offering anything in the way of conversation, instead it just moved you to the next topic.  The top or bottom choices have always been the real meat of the conversations. That and the investigation option, which seems to still be there.

Regardless though, it is a curious thing.

Thing is, in ME1, a LOT of the conversations options are the same

-- Sometimes all 3 choices are the same, which is the same as autodialogue
-- Sometimes all 3 choices were actually different
-- More often than that, 2 out of 3 choices were the same, so really there were only 2 choices

In ME2 they seemed to do away with the illusion of choice and presented your options how they actually were e.g. rather than pretend you had 3 choices for the same dialogue they would just auto it instead - whic h obviously makes sense and doesn't waste the player's time when re-loading conversations to exhaust every bit of dialogue (and believe me I've done that big-time with ME1).

Hah, you're exactly right. I remember replaying ME1 as well, very recently, and finding that many of the dialog options were actually exactly the same.

I remember one specific converation with Wrex when you could respond something like...

I'm Sorry.

That's too bad.

Tough.

And they all resulted in Shepard going something like "Mmhm."

sure, but this one is the main menu theme and not the main theme, little difference... ^^

no - main theme is often main menu theme - at least it aplied for ME 2 - main theme was same as suicide mission track - just had slightly different beggining.

ME1 was Vigil´s theme, so it´s possible this one also plays during the game.

I do prefer this to ME2, as epic as SM was, it felt something from a Hollywood movie and fails (IMHO) to convey it´s very title. With that music no way the SM is going to end badly (I wonder how many Shepards died without the player actively trying to kill him/her).

I've used a lot of neutral responses in my most recent playthrough, and having played paragon 80 million times, a lot of the neutral responses are exactly the same as the paragon responses. Occasionally its just a little more abridged.

Haven't there been tweets about a change to the dialogue system? It seemed to indicate there would be additional options outside of the paragon renegade scale.

"Oh BTW, the ME3 teaser track of mine that was released earlier? That's actually the main menu music. :) I can publicly say that now. #ME3"

hm...  this one?

I guess, but it's not full on the tease. I thought we would have something darker and depressing for the menu, but I really like this one

Yes. main menu theme

Nice... though I still think the Arrival music is a better match. I actually wouldn't mind if they'd left that in.

IMO, best two pieces of music from Mass Effect wer From the Wreckage (ME1) and the closing scene from ME2 (walking through Normandy and the reveal of the Reaper Fleet).

Strangely enough in ME2 the music that stood out to me the most was the DLC music I think. All of it.

Yeah the DLC music had the best in ME2, other then the suicide mission stuff. Which actually played only before the menu. There was no music on the actual menu screen for some reason. Kasumi music was great, so was LotSB, easily the best in ME2.

I think generally, while I liked the music in ME2 - the combat music was kinda flat. Almost none of it had a general pounding beat driving you to fight. Was a bit to whimsical and not enough adrenaline pounding. Which sounds bad when I say that but I'm not sure how else to explain it.

The Geth combat music in ME1 was great in my opinion. Had a good bass going for it that really made me want to push up the line. Made good use of synth stuff too, obviously. ME2 - not so much. last week when I was working to finish up 3 play throughs I ended up having to put on other music for combat missions just to speed things up.

Slow whimsy music throws me off in combat.

Not a bioware dev but I wrote an article about the femshep trailer for a gaming site and sent a link to Jennifer Hale and she responded.

Those are my faves as well, though my fave DLC is a toss up between Overlord's, Kasumi's and Arrival.

I think part of why I liked Arrival's music so much was partly because of the game itself with it. While some people complained about Arrival, really I think its probably the mission probably had the best atmosphere of the whole series so far... The rain, the darkness, the more covert ops sort of feel to it. It just felt cool. The music really framed that up excellently.

@SamHulick is going to be live tweeting his Mass Effect demo playthrough. He promises no spoilers, just that he's going to share his impressions.

Not to mention the rushed feeling I got when you're rapidly hurtleing towards the relay at the end.

A little disappointed that the track that was previewed earlier ended up being the Main Menu theme.  It felt, more important, than that.  Then again, the Vigil theme was ME1's Main Menu theme as well so that worked out very well.

I still feel the best track in the series belongs to The Long Walk.

....... bump

Long Walk worked perfectly on that tense scene in the Suicide Mission. It's right up there with the best music in ME2.

No, but my decible calibrated 5.1 setup in my theater room will surely be rocking this.

I have the new PS Wireless Headset and it really sounds terrific.  No bulky box for receiving or anything; just a simple dongle that plugs into the USB.  Works on PC as well (what I use it for mostly).

I can personally recommend these for gaming.  Although, they need about 100 hours to properly break in.

Hey I have Sennheiser headphones too! :D Though I think it may be going a little quiet in one ear...

Anyway, I think I missed that teaser so hearing that and knowing it's the title screen music for Shepard's last mission... When I play the game I may start tearing up right there. This game is going to destroy me.

Edit: Is anyone else having trouble not calling the Normandy the "NORMANDYA" after the Alliance makeover? :D
