"We are focussed on single player"

The more tweets I read, the more certain I become that ME3 will have MP. Why won't they come out and flat-out tell us "there won't be any multiplayer"?

Rumors are good free marketing.

Rumors, sure, but  when direct statements from devs come into play the whole thing turns into borderline false advertisement.

Only by anyone who then argues that the Devs are saying something that they haven't.

Not saying 'no' is not, and never has been, the same as saying 'yes'. The only false advertising derived from such are those completely created by other people.

+1.

Face it, the Devs are on a hiding to nothing from certain quarters no matter what they say, until such a time as the game goes gold. And maybe not even then.

The more these kinds of discussions continue, the more I'm reminded of how religion often becomes such a source of contention in life (oh NO YOU DIDNT JSUT GO THEER! Oh yes I did...)

i (believe) devs are not insane and they clearly understand what they are doing. They ran this franchise as a SP RPG. It would be silly to implement MP in the final game of a TRILOGY.

It just occurred to me that "Casy Hudson says..." is like the modern version of "Simon says..", where, instead of doing as Simon requests, people either:

a - do exactly as he says
b - discuss exactly what he meant by that
c - refuse to do anything he says
d - say it's his job to listen to them
e - complain that he should have asked them to do something else
f - refuse to buy any Bioware product ever again

When did Casey request something from his followers?

"Fun Friday Fact - We currently have 8 writers and 2 full time editors working on #ME3. And, yes... That's a Mass Effect record."

It's interesting little factoids like this one and the origin of the name of the franchise that makes me wish we got proper making of content more often in games. :(

Still appreciate getting it via Twitter, but would have loved to see some in depth looks at how the series was put together on the CE.

Yeah it's pretty obvious that there will be MP, despite the overwhelming numbers against it. Very unfortunate.

The recent tweets are as close as a no as we will get.

The devs are most certainly insane. Out of their minds. But you know what they say: genius comes from madness. [/end Mark Hamill/Joker voice]

(okay, so ME is not really madness but I just wanted to say that)

I think this is relevant to our interests.

Q: @dsilvermanea If the production of ME3 CE isn't finalized, it would be pretty badass throwing in a real "Long Service Medal"
A: @javierabegazo I love this idea. Unfortunately, I think we may be too late, but we're looking into it. Thanks for the suggestion. #ME3 CE

That is definitely one of the best 'physical' extras I can think of getting with the CE, would be fantastic if they manage to get it in the final box.

Listen, we can dissect all of the twitter statements to the nth degree, but the fact is that no one outside of Bioware, and perhaps EA, knows whether or not ME3 will feature a multiplayer component. There have been no definitive statements that confirm, nor deny, multiplayer in ME3, just a lot a vague hyperbole.

Example: Christina Norman says "We are focused on single player." This doesn't mean yes, and it doesn't mean no. It could mean there's no multi in ME3, or it could mean another Bioware studio is working on MP. Again, this is beating around the bush at it's finest. The people at Bioware should be politicians.

Yes, exactly. As close to a no as we'll ever get. But still not a no. That's the point. The fact that they all refuse to write an outright answer is an answer in itself.

I can imagine the Bioware office right now, with everyone hitting themselves over the head because they just had to start tweeting about game production and now they're stuck with that kind of awkward stuff and they can't do anything about it.

I'm guessing they can't answer with a definite answer because they've either started working out the details for MP or because sooner or later there's going to be an official announcement.

Really? I thought they were there because they hadn't fully healed yet.

Well, I guess they could've made permanent scars, but still.

Perhaps if you create a default Shepard like they had in the E3 Demo you come with some remnant of the ME2 scars?
It's the only thing I can think of.

According to Doctor Chakwas, renegade thinking causes disruption of Shepards implants which prevents the scars from healing. The medical repair thingy that she uses to cure him basically creates insulation for the implants.

Paragon thinking doesn't cause disruption so the scars are able to heal.

God forbid that Shepard enters a combat situation then. Hell, even being stuck in traffic will be enough to tear his face apart if true.

Anyways, Bioware originally gave cryptic answers regarding the initial pre-VGA MP rumors. Keep in mind that they never confirmed nor denied those rumors (as they are doing now) and they were, in the end, completely false.

The reason they're being coy about multiplayer could be that they don't actually know yet.

They may be trying out co-op missions or competitive multiplayer but don't yet know if it will make it to the final product. Even if a multiplayer side is heavily developed they could still scrap it if they decide it isn't up to scratch. They still have about 9 months until release, they have plenty of time to decide what will and what won't make the final product.

Also, I wouldn't mind MP. As long as the campaign remains SP - and I have every faith that this will be the case - something like a horde style multiplayer mode could be pretty nifty.

I wish they'd just say one way or the other. Say no, and kill this topic. Say yes, and everyone who swears they'll cancel their pre-orders and never buy another bioware product can leave.

At this rate we may not know for sure until Gamescom. -_- I mean, if they don't announce it before then, then that will be the last point I can imagine them doing it. An announcement like MP in ME3 (which to most will seem a change in direction regardless of the details at this point) will be huge news and I would have thought having a big stage to present said news on (such as E3/Gamescom) would be ideal from a marketing perspective.

Still hope they are saving their energy for a post ME3 multiplayer game personally.

...Gah this MP talk gets everywhere!

No, not at all.
At worst they are experimenting with MP right now. 2 months ago they hadn't either considered MP. They can't just start developing the first details of MP right now.

And just seriously hold your horses, people.
We had the same kind of responses about MP pre-ME2 and we know that all they did was experiment on it. It didn't work out back then, and now is certainly a weird time to introduce it.

They are obviously trying to stop the downright nos just in case something changes in the future, which I seriously doubt. Don't manipulate their words.

Ask Casey or anyone if we are going to visit the Minuteman Station. http://masseffect.wi...nuteman_Station

We can formulate if we are going there or not depending on the answer.

He won't answer that...that would be spoilers
