People are giving death threats to Bioware?

To be fair, death threats should be kind of expected by someone as big in the industry as Bioware, especially when they make a generally disliked decision. Didn't the author of Vector Prime (R.A. Salvatore? I have it on my shelf, but CBA to go look) get a whole bunch after what he did to Chewie?

They're in the entertainment industry. People are going to take issue with anything they would rather not happen to characters they're attached to. They are obliged to take it on the nose, water off a duck's back and all that. Sure, it stings, but if they can't handle the heat, especially at a time such as this, when the wrong word can and will create a PR sh!tstorm that could cost jobs if they're not careful, then maybe they should practice keeping shtum a little longer.

Well it started by this guy posting to Priestly (Chris's response is on the bottom):

twitter.com/BioEvilChris/status/205415262621675520
"Do you get a kick out of calling yourself evil? You think you're that important? You're just a dude who isn't good at his job."

"Some people are evil, some have it thrust upon them. Speaking of which, how's your mom?"

BTW check out his page: twitter.com/#!/Transference7 lots of hate man

So one guy said the first quote and Chris said the second quote? Why can't it just be like 'Chris says'? It would be so much more easier to understand.

I see Micheal Gamble @ Micheal Gamble sometimes, does that mean your replying to yourself?

Well that's how I usually do the formatting on tweets (check the link!) but yeah that's the jist of it

I think that other part is when sometimes people copy the whole tweet without cleaning it up in format.  You can see the '@ handle' next to their names in twitter

I'm not supporting them but you can't blame them, constant hate 24/7. Thats hard to put up with, especially death threats.

Word, it's bad on both ends, but Bioware doesn't deserve all this constant hate.  They ****ed up (at least from a general point of view), but they've provided me with some of my best gaming experiences ever, since KOTOR and untill ME2.

It's a COMPANY, not a human being.  It is, and must be, "what have you done for me lately?".  A COMPANY doesn't get undying respect or love, that is for human beings.  Corporations are not people.  People are people.  Master that and you will get everything that follows from that.

I bet if people were more open-minded, things would be a lot better. Which will never happen, ever. Even if there's an actual Reaper invasion, or Darkspawn, or Archdemons

People are really going to a very low level.

Bioware is a company, Chris Priestly is a human being, and a death threat is a violation of a human beings human rights. There being given critiscism and theres being disgustingly and verbally assaulted by people who are internet thugs. Bioware is a company that has a one of the most personal connections I have ever seen. This is a company that talks to people adds them as friends on twitter chat to at conventions. Some corporation are corporation behind a stone wall. Bioware is corporation made up of individuals, who deserve basic human respect.

Completely unacceptable.  A professional would have ignored that remark, or turned it around somehow.  Not openly insulted someone shamelessly.

If I was rude to someone like that at my job, I'd be fired.  And I'm not even a manager or a PR rep.

Just saying.

Counter argument, DA2.  Streamlining can make a game more fun, sure, but it can also remove what makes the original so dang fun.  Some of us like big and complex.

There is no "especially". The sorts of people who do this would do it anyway (and they do; David has said he gets death threats every so often, and not just casual remarks but in actual letter form). It's a sign of instability and/or immaturity of the individual, nothing more.

I believe in the ******-for-tat rule. You are allowed to respond with appropriate force depending on how the customer treats you. Just try getting verbally abusing to an employee at a service place and I've seen managers not tolerate that. There's a line between legitimate complaints and verbal abuse.

Companies are starting to realize this and allowing more leeway, because the Internet tends to exacerbate these problems.

He deserved to be insulted by chris pristley for being an **** on twitter, it's the internet, troll someone IRL at a store and it's considered on company time and on company property.

This is prstley's personal account that these messages are getting sent to, that's like me justifying sending you an insulting letter to your house and than saying you aren't allowed to fight back because you have a job.

Facebook and Twitter are still in the 'where does it fit in?' as far as company policy goes I would think. This is due to the fact that while you can say its personal, it's also used to advertise or communicate through your community often. Also, when you put something such as 'Employee of this company', you're automatically representing the company there. In this case though, the guy was an obvious troll. Its not like an employee insulting an entire community or anything.

nope it doesnt it was a personal attack on chris and chris responded on his own time and on his own account he mentioned nothing of bioware or anything in his attack to chris he just tries to troll and gets its thrown in his face and he  goes and cries to HTL by making it look like chris was out of line thats what i love about twitter chris can in fact troll back to him  in  anyways  once he   did personal attack so in ergo you are not attackinga the bioware chris community mananger, you are attacking chris priestly..

but the troll  did try to  use employee it differ since he never attack chris on the fourms now if chris and the troll started on the forum yes i can see it being a problem, but last i check that account is chris's not biowares

because chris works for a company that  tries to act respectable and once  the troll gets told off he cant handle it and tries to make it like he was told off by employee chris , which is kinda funny since he never even said anything offending to him in any case all he did ask was how is your mom which could been seen that he trying to find out if its the person that  is trolling that sent that post card

no its not even that   chirs was trolling the troller on his own time period, i think chris would be more careful on how he answered that troll if he was working at the time, like i said its was a personal attack that chris fought back with out using any deformity in his language

I just wanted to voice my opinion on this specific comment. Some games don't need to be streamlined to draw in audiences or become successful (case in point, TW2). DA2 tried to appeal to the "mainstream" crowd and lost a lot of what made the original special.
