I just wanted to voice my opinion on this specific comment. Some games don't need to be streamlined to draw in audiences or become successful (case in point, TW2). DA2 tried to appeal to the "mainstream" crowd and lost a lot of what made the original special.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

If you want to take an IP and change the game mechanics to what is expected - make it a spin off - don't call it the same game and stick a 2 or 3 or a 4 on the end of it.

More often than not it ruins the series.

Well it started by this guy posting to Priestly (Chris's response is on the bottom):

twitter.com/BioEvilChris/status/205415262621675520
"Do you get a kick out of calling yourself evil? You think you're that important? You're just a dude who isn't good at his job."

"Some people are evil, some have it thrust upon them. Speaking of which, how's your mom?"

BTW check out his page: twitter.com/#!/Transference7 lots of hate man

Completely unacceptable.  A professional would have ignored that remark, or turned it around somehow.  Not openly insulted someone shamelessly.

If I was rude to someone like that at my job, I'd be fired.  And I'm not even a manager or a PR rep.

Just saying.

He deserved to be insulted by chris pristley for being an **** on twitter, it's the internet, troll someone IRL at a store and it's considered on company time and on company property.

This is prstley's personal account that these messages are getting sent to, that's like me justifying sending you an insulting letter to your house and than saying you aren't allowed to fight back because you have a job.

This!

Facebook and Twitter are still in the 'where does it fit in?' as far as company policy goes I would think. This is due to the fact that while you can say its personal, it's also used to advertise or communicate through your community often. Also, when you put something such as 'Employee of this company', you're automatically representing the company there. In this case though, the guy was an obvious troll. Its not like an employee insulting an entire community or anything.

I just can't get over how people would side with the troll in this instance, it's baffleing to me.

one could argue, individuals are sick of going to bat for bioware when they do not come to support us, the whole entitlement events by journalist a few months back come to mind

Vorcha? Seriously? I thought we were done with that garbage.

You'd be surprised what lows multiplayer brings a game.

Its what helped ruin ME3, and ironically, its the only thing BioWare is still clinging to.

You know... this kind of crap can really make for a good Monty Python movie... all this 'looking for every excuse to picture something in a certain way' really reminds me of this.

There are many things that ruined ME3, and it wasn't MP, it was EA. EA turned ME into an action then RPG game, not the other way around.

EA decided to take the story on a vacation for ME2 to go on a pointless suicide mission, instead of stopping/delaying or finding the super weapon to stop the reapers. That is how ME2 should have been, not driving a luxury hotel around.

Then ME3 came along. Rushed from the start, because they forgot to include how to stop the reapers in ME2. Soo Liara just happened to find schematics for one. Then the ending was added on to to include the "ruler" of the reapers.

How was DA2 a spin of?

Most things were almost the same.

..er...It wasn't. Which was my point. Even a lot of reviews that came out afterwards said - If it was called Kirkwall: A dragon age story or something people wouldn't have been expecting more of the same and it would have been judged on its own merits as opposed to a massive split in the fan base.

A good example of this is C&C - instead of using all the Generals idea and tech and calling it C&C3 - they called it C&C:Generals and made it another game series - to great acclaim. They made a whole bunch of new stuff - called it C&C4 and killed the series.

If you want to really experiment with the art, the mechanics and the soul of the game - make it a spin off - it won't damage other parts of the franchise that way if it fails, and you might just pick up a new following.

they won't announce anything because regardless of what is announced they will be slaughtered for it.

I suspect the believe that they are in a lose lose scenario. No matter what they do with EC they will not please everyone AND they will also make 0 dollars on it.

I disagree. Half of the rage will be gone as soon as people see their Sheps reuinted with the LI, let's be honest.

I hope that they will have squad Voice Actors record dialogues for Omega DLC while they're already have them in the studio for EC. I hated mute squad in Overlord/LOTSB

Odd. The less I hear about the Extended Cut, the more hopeful I become that it's exactly what I'm looking for. This could be very interesting.

Agree a million %. A few cobbled together cutscenes wouldn't take this long. They have listened to the fans' criticism and they are working as hard they can to make as many people as possible satisfied with the conclusion. I don't want any of it spoiled, I want to see it fresh and unspoiled. People just love to whinge, and the more they do, the more it becomes a normal state of being. Releasing tidbits of information gives those with Veruca Salt Syndrome just another reason to whine.

Indeed. Say what you will about DA2, but it brought back the main cast for both major DLCs, which is something ME hasn't done thus far.

Why does that sound so familiar? Oh wait, that was their exact statement just before the ME3 release. Look how that turned out.

I'm seriously pessimistic about EC. However, I'll wait for it to arrive before actually concluding the game. I've seen the endings on youtube, but never got to reach them on the game (paused in the later parts of London) ever since I was aware of the debacle (why go all the trouble to see a wretched thing for myself?).

I will download the EC and will try to censor youtube until I reach it by myself. And I expect nothing but excrement, so there's no way in hell I'll get disappointed ;).

I wish they hadn't rushed the game itself, but eh, this is good news. A rushed product to fix a rushed prodcut won't do anyone any good.

So it's still early enough in development that they don't have enough to show yet? This has peaked my curiosity and intrigue.

1. I believe a late summer or possibly even midfall release in now more than likely.

2. They are either creating so much new content for it that it's taking this long, working on writting expanded content so that is is short yet brilliant and patches the plot holes, both, or neither.

In any case, more time is always best. Glad they're trying not to let the outside world events distract them from working slow and steady, also that EA hasn't put deadlines on the EC to have a preview at the event.

What do you seriously expect to see for the EC before its released? A trailer or a preview for a bunch of cutscenes?
