Consider changing the name of the game?

I hear DA2 is still a great game but when compared to DAO it's horrible.  But it's not fair to compare games to the rare gem of a masterpiece DAO is.  Maybe Bioware should consider changing the name of DA2 to something like Dragon Age Kirkwall Chronicles? Then we can still have a proper Dragon Age 2 to look forward to but enjoy Kirkwall chronicles in the mean time?

No disrespect intended just thinking out loud.

Yeah, I had the same thought.  DA2 isn't a bad game, it just isn't the same game as DA:O, and shouldn't have been called that.

"Champion of Kirkwall"  From the same team that brought you  "Dragon Age"!

But it's too late now...

Not again.

Changing the name changes nothing. Either you like it or you don't. If you're not into that kind of style to begin with, you wouldn't suddenly like it if it was called Donald Duck's suicide mission.

No DA2 is a bad game. More bugs then most MMOs have at launch, ridiculous reuse of caves, tunnels, exploding enemies from backstabs, must I go on?

This has been suggested before. No the name change would not have mattered. Since it is from Bioware in the same genre and same world it would still be compared to DAO.

I believe that changing the name would make a change, the game is great, really great, just not as amazing as Dragon Age: Origins, which is why changing the name will mean we might have a real Dragon Age II, that continues the story of our warden, and that is much more improved.

But I guess I'm hoping for too much, it is too late now.

But Dragon Age is about Hawke's story, Origins was the spin off.

It probably won't happen, but it's an interesting suggestion. I can see how some folks might have had different expectations of the game if it had had a different name. That said, what would y'all have named it instead of Dragon Age II?

So far, i've seen Dragon Age: Kirkwall Chronicles and Champions of Kirkwall. i like the sound of Dragon Age: Hawke, but until you play the game, it doesn't really mean much of anything. It just sounds neat.

I've seen "Dragon Age: Rise to Power" quite alot, sounds like a reasonable title to me, also functions well with the meaning of the game and the commercials I've seen

Dragon Age: Kirkwall Chronicles

Sounds good for me. Sure, a product title cant be changed after it was released. But for future Dragon Age title, its a good idea to publish them with a more personal title.

I think Dragon Age:Invisible War would be appropriate.

Bioware were originally going to call it that. There's an early image of the title screen floating around.

@Nimpe So why on earth didn't they just call it that?

Personally, I like the "Kirkwall Chronicles". I even like the idea of several spin-offs from DA:O. Like the plight of the Chasind. Or Flemeth. Oh there is so much lore, so much wonderful background to be used. The bioware sparkly, delicious goodness showed through even in this (imo) average game. Feynriel was intriguing. I so wish he hadn't been left by the wayside.

Bioware created something I fell in love with when they created DA:O. So many opportunities. So much joy and intrigue, so many memorable characters. gripping lore, well developed backgrounds.

DA 2 wasn't bad. It was average because it tried to succeed DA:O. It was doomed to fail (imo). However, as a more reasonably priced spin-off, it would have been so much better.

I will pay 60 euros, heck, I will pay 70+ euros for a superb RPG that bioware makes. But I resent having paid 56 euros for a game that was merely a spin-off sold at a price that was way to high for it (imo)

I would definitely buy DA 2, even now. Now that it is reasonably priced for what I, personally, think it's worth. I don't hate it. But it is not a successor for DA:O. In my very personal opinion. YMMV.

Dragon Age: Brokeback Mountain.

But seriously, I wouldn't have bought DA II regardless of its name because of what they added to the combat system.  I just don't play games anymore where you push just one button continously.  I know the PC version has auto-attack, but my computer won't be upgraded for at least another two years before I have a system capable of playing it.

Something free of prepositions, free of nonsense like "Shadows" or "Chronicles," and preferably free of the stupid colon.

I think Dragon Age II was the right choice for a name. I just think it needed to be better. I believe a lot of people who claim that they wouldn't mind so much if it were just called something different are really suggesting that it would make it easier to disregard it entirely. They're not saying that they would judge it any differently (like the "pro" crowd seems to always want to suggest when they say you shouldn't compare it to Origins), just that they wouldn't care that they didn't like it. A lot of people say Sonic sucked, but nobody cares because nobody feels the need to buy and play it. But you do feel the need to buy and play the sequel to one of your favorite CRPG franchises, and you very much care when the things you liked so much from Origins are just gone and replaced with stuff that isn't solid or doesn't offer much improvement.

If it had been Dragon Age: Experiments of a Game Team Trying to Make a Game in a Limited Amount of Time and Attempting to Successfully Re-Direct the Series in a More Forward-Looking Fashion, you still wouldn't have liked it. But you wouldn't have cared as much (you'd still just be waiting for the *real* sequel, i.e., Dragon Age II).

Call the next sequel for DA ---> Dragon Age II: Origins

...Naw I'm kidding but I really do wish we can do something to stop seeing DA2 as the sequel to one of the most promising game in the market.
