..a thousand dollars for a gaming pc? No need for that much, DA:O runs great on my old AMD Athlon X2 2.4ghz, 4gb ddr2 ram, and a Geforce 9600 GT. You can get that.. very very cheap now. Hell, you can get a better system than my old one for around $400.

Agreed, I am currently upgrading to a new PC complete system and one that will even run the Witcher 2 or Skyrim (probably) on full out highest settings and the price... So far is around total of £350-400. Thats like $570-650. So this fallacy of $1000 for high spec PC to play latest games is just that.. A fallacy.

When I get a new system, I attempt to have $1000 aside in which to get a new rig, but this is why I only see fit to get a new rig every decade or so. First one lasted 5 yrs, second 14 yrs,, and now on third.

I do not have the contacts and funds to perform casual upgrades as a rule, so I try and get the most reliable kit I am able initially.

I just built a new rig.  Best thing was still having my old one, which gave me time to price shop piece by piece.  I got a GREAT deal on processor/motherboard combo, I7 960 and a great motherboard for $370.

But all in all.

Motherboard/CPU $370
8 Gigs Ram           $80
Tower                    $70
Corsair PSW 650  $120
GTX 560               $225
Heat sink              $25     (Coolmaster Hyper 212, trust me)

Total $890 (Waiting for $125 in mail in rebates) so $765 technically, and I can play every game I have maxed out on 1920x1080

So I know you can get a PC that can play the games on decent setting for less than that.

Sorry for going off topic :?
