IMHO it shouldn't even have Dragon Age in its current buttonawesome state, but since it's already a part of the franchise, Dragon Age: Exodus will work for me.

I agree with Dragon Age: The Kirkwall Chronicles being the best title for this game.

It probably won't happen, but it's an interesting suggestion. I can see how some folks might have had different expectations of the game if it had had a different name. That said, what would y'all have named it instead of Dragon Age II?

So far, i've seen Dragon Age: Kirkwall Chronicles and Champions of Kirkwall. i like the sound of Dragon Age: Hawke, but until you play the game, it doesn't really mean much of anything. It just sounds neat.

(Let's try to keep it clean and free of backhanded insults, please.)

Dragon Age: Intermission (Thanks Yahtzee)
Dragon Age: Random Tasks
Dragon Age: Plot Stretch
Dragon Age: Return of The Awesomebutten

Although yours are infinately better.

How about Dragon Age: Call of Duty.Posted Image

Edited to show I was teasing good-naturedly and not insulting.

I thought there was nothing wrong with Dragon Age: Exodus. A much better name than Dragon Age 2.

There's also;

Dragon Age: Hawke's gobbing off Adventure

Dragon Age: The Varric Chronicles

Dragon Age: Anders blows stuff up.

Thats all I can think of, and time to pack it in to leave work

This game feels more like an expansion than a sequal, that's why.

How about changing publishers?

This has been suggested before. No the name change would not have mattered. Since it is from Bioware in the same genre and same world it would still be compared to DAO.

Not true, because I would then not have expected a sequel that DA2 was advertised as being. Just read the website and what the game is advertised as doing, which it does not. I would have also suggested that they had (at least) advertised the genre as an action/RPG (where I really think it should have been listed as and action/adventure game), and not an RPG, to which Origins was more aligned.

I've thought having a different name would be a good thing since I started playing DA2. I'd start with the first game in a series being, Dragon Age: Adventurer of Kirkwall, next Dragon Age: Champion of Kirkwall, and then Dragon Age: Fate of Kirkwall. The titles would suggest first Hawke being a lowly adventurer, later a champion, and then, that all eyes are on Kirkwall and by extension Hawke's role in what happens to Kirkwall.

Note: I forgot to mention I was thinking about these names in conjunction with having Act 3 split from the current DA2 and made into a separate game.

I think the OP has a great point, it may have had a different effect on the current attitudes here (and in the media) as to what the game represented from that of Origins.

"Dragon Age 2" becomes "Dragon Age: Dog Lord."
"Dragon Age 3" becomes "Dragon Age: Arl of Orlais."
"Dragon Age 4" becomes "Dragon Age: Magic Mini-Cart Racing!" features characters from all previous Bioware games, including Shepard!

I think DAII is the best game ever. I am a stratigy paus and play nightmare frome the word go type and the combat in DAII was awsom Team builds with many variables I loved the waves of enemiess the story if you can call DAO a story layed out the world but had very little story DAII the plot and sub plots were well developed no errands as for the recycled maps I don't think were a big deal if they had a development budget and recycled map that were well desighned( and they were very very well desighned but that is another discussion) or many many maps that were poorley done was the choice Bioware mad the right call. or other budgit moves such as less content and sub plots.

Keep in mind origins and origins storys were about establishing the Dragon age universe and give the players a understanding of what each race and their role in the world I don't think we will ever see that again.

Also keep in mind DAII also set up Flemith who and what is she

Why did shee help the wardens and Hawk

What wwas that idle in the deep roads Dwarf don't worship idoles so who made that idel in the deep.

Why were the gray wardens in Kirkwall in act 2

How much of Varics story is true (I think he knew abou the idel and the rock wrath and planed the the whole thing I also thin he is head of the cotery)

keep in mind DAII began at the same time as DAO

I never stopped engaging the fanbase... except during my 2-week vacation. I've always been here. It's just a lot more difficult to get a word in edgewise when every other post is insulting my job, my intelligence, my employer, my project, my industry, etc. It's a lot easier to actually have a conversation now with more interesting topics being discussed, with people who prefer to have a discussion rather than an argument... or a trial. :)

I think the name they originally had and inexplicably changed would have been far better than just DA2:

Thats a large chunk of the problem with DA2- to many people it doesn't come across as enough of a direct sequel either in terms of story or even basic presentation and gameplay which a "2" seems to imply.Yet for whatever reason, BioWare/EA just slapped a 2 on it and called it done.

Chris is on vacay. Last I saw from him he was in Albuquerque or however it's spelled! DOH!

Mr. Woo, yeah I hate that.

Okay in fun I have been one calling it Kirkwall Chronicles (which I like and would have liked for the name of the game) it fits the time span and the different stories of Hawke. I may have been the one that started it...or my ego likes it that way any how.

Dragon Age: Fed ex?  Okay I kid, I kid.
Dragon Age: One Wounded Coast (again..j/k)
Dragon Age: Exodus

Slapping a "2" on it was pure marketing, to ride on the coat tails of DA:O and capatalise on the name. Inon Zur said something similar I believe.

Betcha its that.

EDIT: @Dragoonlordz.

Its a special part of Bioware HQ, for programmers who go nuts.

I am somewhat acquainted with the reasoning behind the decision, and it was far more involved and had farther reaching ramifications than simply "slapping a 2 on it."
