What happened to Chris btw, haven't seen him in a while.

Aside from some business trips and vacations along the way, he's been around, pulling the strings from behind the scenes. He is hoping to become more visible and active with all y'all again soon, but mostly he's been working on important behind-the-scenes stuff.

Will be interesting to see if actually call Dragon Age 3 using the number 3. Though depending on if learned from what people have overwhelmingly spoken about on here regarding 2 needed a lot more time in development, I'm guessing DA3 will either be out in year to year and half or if will actually take longer this time before we find out.

@Stanley ~ I hope so since I like Chris, always friendly and up for talking with us quite often about many things not just the area he works in.

It probably won't happen, but it's an interesting suggestion. I can see how some folks might have had different expectations of the game if it had had a different name. That said, what would y'all have named it instead of Dragon Age II?

So far, i've seen Dragon Age: Kirkwall Chronicles and Champions of Kirkwall. i like the sound of Dragon Age: Hawke, but until you play the game, it doesn't really mean much of anything. It just sounds neat.

(Let's try to keep it clean and free of backhanded insults, please.)

Unfortunately there are too many people who derive too much pleasure from being snarky and being able to hit the "submit" button with the pointer.

Even when I am offended, however, I try to remember that it's almost impossible to fully understand the tone in which some comments are made. I've been accused to being too mean when those reading my posts didn't realize that I was joking.

I would have just kept the original "Dragon Age: Exodus" title, Mr. Woo. It's descriptive, doesn't carry the same expectations the "2" brings with it, and helps to reinforce the party line of "the series is all about Thedas" by making it clear it isn't a direct sequel to DA:O with the same main characters.

Not that I agree with that story decision, but I digress.

Not true, because I would then not have expected a sequel that DA2 was advertised as being. Just read the website and what the game is advertised as doing, which it does not.

Yeah it does. Its a sequel under the definition of the word, there have been many many sequels to games that are less sequels than DA2. And would you really have a different opinion of the game merely because the 2 would be removed from the title.

I hear DA2 is still a great game but when compared to DAO it's horrible.  But it's not fair to compare games to the rare gem of a masterpiece DAO is.  Maybe Bioware should consider changing the name of DA2 to something like Dragon Age Kirkwall Chronicles? Then we can still have a proper Dragon Age 2 to look forward to but enjoy Kirkwall chronicles in the mean time?

No disrespect intended just thinking out loud.

Um we never had a proper 'Dragon Age 1' to begin with so Not sure why people obsess on the name so. If anything they completely broke the established naming convention with DA2 so you already got your wish.

Dragon Age: Hawke's Flight

It's got that play on words thing, as well as alluding to the beginning and ending of the game.

It also follows the naming convention established with Leliana's Song.

I think those who are making serious suggestions have come up with some good ones. For my part, I've pondered this issue for a while... calling it Dragon Age 2 seems to belie the devs' choice to move this installment in a different direction visually, tactically, and through the choice of narrative technique.  That, at least, from the perspective of someone so caught up with Origins.

DA2 deserves an identity in its own right. "Origins" was an appropriate title for the first game, both from the standpoint of character and the franchise. But when considering DA2's place in the franchise, and appreciating how it, in some way, asked more questions than it answered... it may be impossible to come up with the perfect title for DA2 until we see DA3 and beyond.

It appears there is danger in relying too heavily on brand recognition then.

Ok well my first bunch of suggestions was just for humour but here's some less jovial ones.

Dragon Age : Varric's Tale
Dragon Age : Homecoming
Dragon Age : Burden of Fate
Dragon Age : Winds of Change
Dragon Age : Hopes and Dreams
Dragon Age : Illusion of Power
Dragon Age : Trust Unbound
Dragon Age : Bonds of Blood
Dragon Age : Threads of Dissent
Dragon Age : Edge of War
Dragon Age : Heart of Treason
Dragon Age : Legacy of Hawke
Dragon Age : City of Hate
Dragon Age : Price of Freedom

Not that any alternative names will do any good, what is done is done and this won't change that.

I've said pretty much everything needed to say in my review about DA2 so now I'm just biding my time till Witcher 2 is out in few days and partaking in only the most amusing of threads at the moment. So these forums might get bit more serene and quiet for you devs for while which I imagine you will be gratefull for after the storm after release of DA2. As for DA3 can't even begin to think of names for it since have no idea if it's going to be a DA2 clone or a halfway house between DAO and DA2, let alone what story or plot will be so naming that would be pointless at this time imho from my perspective. Overall, I had fun with DA2, but I found some MAJOR shortcomings, and the name wasn't really one of them. I hope you at Bioware can rememdy some of the players' complaints without being overwhelmed by the insults, snarky comments, and the "Plan 9 from Outer Space" and Bruce Campbell discussions.

Silly Slimgrin, Asari don't have beards!

And I think so too. Sell more on the previous games success.

I still like DA: Exodus the best. DA: Rise To Power isn't bad, but imho doesn't fit hawke.

I really don't have any more suggestions that aren't in a humorous bent. Hm..
DA: The Templar War.

DA: 20% more boobs.
DA: I like big boats.
DA: The Quest for Unobtanium
DA: Deep Space 9
DA: The wrath of Sandel.
DA: Kittens gone wild - The SIr Pounce-A-Lot story.
DA: Anders - Demolition Man.

Kk, I'll stop now.. maybe.. :pinched:

Dragon Age: The Last Straw might be a good choice. It echoes the name of the final chapter, AND it would allow the multitudes of enraged 'fans' to make snide "it's the last straw, all right" comments to their heart's content.

hmm... Dragon Age: Dejà Vu might work... at least that's what I say every time I enter a cave or "sewer" or tunnel in Kirkwall... "Dejà Vu... The Matrix is changing something... where's that door that used to be here? It's a stone wall now? It's a trap!!!"
