I still like Dragon Age: The Kirkwall Chronicles (reminds me of the Chronicles of Narnia I guess when I hear it).  Dragon Age: Exodus is my second fav.

Hmm............what's wrong with Dragon Age 2. Looks good and game is also superb especially it's new combat system.
If it wasn't named DA2 then it's value will be much less and i think no one will consider it as a major game.

What can I say, I clicked on a thread at random, saw the somewhat unrealistic idea that BW might somehow suddenly change the name of the game and then saw a silly supposition later in the thread that the company just decided to...what was it..."slap a 2 on the game" or something to that effect? Ah see, rolling your eyes then saying something moderately intelligent to express your disbelief about that statement (like above) would have served you better than yawns, butthurt and trolling. Sounds like you are the one who needs a cookie.

Quite a few people as it is don't consider DA2 a "major" game. Feels more like an expansion pack.

Considering how much this game felt like a single episodic off-shoot... I like Dragon Age Chronicles: Champion of Kirkwall. Or something like that.

Or maybe: Dragon Age Chronicles: The Pillow of Tears.

After finishing DA:O I sat back in my chair and smiled to myself, because I thought I had found another series (like Baldur's Gate) that I would end up playing again every couple of years because its JUST THAT GOOD. I know there is a basic human compulsion to defend something you have created, but seeing Bioware recommit to the level of excellence of DA:O in the future titles would completely restore my faith in this company.

I'm really confused by this. Changing the name of DA2 = recommitting to DAO's level of excellence? How so? All I see this would mean is now there wouldn't be any game at all named DA2, as opposed to a DA2 that you don't like.

Yeah that was my feeling about it.  Felt like an expansion pack magical shooter game.

I do like Dragon Age: Exodus, but that name takes more focus on leaving Lothering, since it basically means 'exit'. If there was, say,  many adventures passing through different places along the way out of Fereldan then I'd say, "Yes, that fits".

And yes, the name Dragon Age: Kirkwall Chronicles does focus in on that it takes place in only 'Kirkwall' and 'chronicles' speak of time passing in sequences there, because of that, this is a good contender.

But since the whole story is being told by Varric, and the Cassandra has a book she references to when speaking of Hawke, I thought:

Dragon Age: Exegesis

Since exegesis means critical explanation or interpretation of a text or portion of a text. Why not that? Obviously, Hawke's tale has been accounted in a book.

And I suspect everyone likes the word exodus because it sounds epic and all, so why not have a word that actually describes what is going on, instead of 'exiting' Lothering.

And really, since Hawke pretty much made Kirkwall his/her residence, you very well can't say 'exodus' fits, especially after so many years.

I did think of that second one but it reminded me of Matrix Revolutions too much. But it would also fit.

As for the name, all the Elder Scrolls Titles have an identity; we have TES Arena, TES Daggerfall, TES Morrowind, TES Skyrim, although everyone just referers to them as either Arena, Skyrim, Morrowind or Oblivion etc. And all here seems to refer to DA: Origins as just Origins.

To me, the main problem was (and is) that way back in 2004, 2005? (or maybe 2007?) when Ray and Greg (co-founders of Bioware) was asked if Origins were a trilogy they sort of ducked the answer, weaving a bit, ok a lot. A part of this main problem, I find, was that Bioware, including Ray and Greg did not say clearly enough way back in those days that Dragon Age were going to be a franchise e.g. a series of games. And that they wanted to tell a lot of stories within that franchise or series. And that it meant that not all games would be set in the same areas otr tell the same story.

I've always seen Dragon Age as such, but then maybe I'm just better? at reading between the lines re: my education as teacher...maybe....As to if DA2 should have a subtitle why don't we just call it: DA2: Kirkwall - naming it after its location. It seems to work well for TES series.

You don't?  Ugh. You of all people should get it. Since it was Vengeance's bomb that starts the ripple effect after all. It had nothing to do with Hawke.

Dragon Age: Abridged version

Dragon Age 2:Kirkwall. Had it had the number and a subtitle showing it's the second game in the series, but it's not a sequel to the first game ala TES series) it would have been better solution.
