Pfah to all these 'tactical' reasons! I only use it to have a nuclear radiation symbol on my back at all times, which makes me feel totally badass.
What is YOUR most effective use of the Cain?

Considerably simplifies the fight at the end of Grunt's RM.

I've found that resisting the urge to use the Cain and beating certain situations the hard way has a pretty nice sense of accomplishment to it...
A great use of the Cain without using it at all... o.O

No one else uses it on the Warden at the end of Jack's recruitment? No shutting down the barrier, and cut scene humour as the guards Jack fights are already dead.

I usually do the Smuggling Depot after recruiting Jack (they're in the same cluster)... so I would never waste my Cain on that.

I started a hardcore game on PC, upgraded mostly everything. Was getting pumped for the fight with baby reaper. It starts charging it's laser and I one-shot it with the CAIN, and the game instantly ends. I was so disappointed, that's never happened to me.

*end attempt at acting shocked on teh internets*
I posted earlier about hitting the Baby directly in a weak spot and one-shotting it... like the mouth while its chargin' its lazor or something... and I one-shotted it two games in a row.
I was wondering if it would work on higher difficulties... yours wasn't insanity but close enough.

The Reaper IFF is definitely a good use for it. But if you fire it straight away you will miss the few credits in the room lol. Credits are credits /wrex.
That isn't exactly true, there is just enough time to go sprint and grab those credits even if they are basically at the far left side of the room. I've done it in my last 2 playthroughs after realising where they were. But yeah, Reaper IFF ALWAYS gets cained by me after my nightmare of a first playthrough where I hadn't took the Cain and only just managed to take out the core whilst fending off the masses of husks hehe
The mission with the 3 YMIR mechs where secure the smuggling stash of 20 crates is another and I tend to always CAIN the Praetorian on the Collector Ship most of the time now. Another thing I like doing is nuking the Geth Prime at the end of Tali's loyalty mission, namely because it's one of those "Mis-aim this and your toast" situations

I've not had any trouble with those husks yet... my squadmates, yes... but me? No...
I'll see how I do on Hardcore/Insanity but I'm playing Vanguard so they'll be fun as ever to fight and I doubt I'll experience the full difficulty of them that other classes suffer.
But even then, for other classes I always picked the Assault Rifle, and I chose the Vindicator, so it's easy enough to shoot their bottom-halves off and stay on the move with burst fire.

One of the fun spots for a Cain, is on Thane's recruitment mission, the infamous elevator full of badguys. It is fun because if you time it right you get the BOOM, mushroom cloud and a pleasant voice saying "Have a nice day," plus an empty elevator opens........not needed just fun.

Don´t really use it that often! But I´ll now use it on the Eclipse Cargo mission, just to destroy all those mechs at once
(and on the Reaper IFF mission, good idea
)

I used it on a husk that poped out of no where 5meters in front of me, it effectively killed me and the husk. Does that count?

Stupid preatorian... first play though I didn't do any side missions yet so I was low level and went off to Horizon... died at the praetorian repeatedly. From then on I always use it there.
Tried to use it on Baby... and missed...

I'm gonna resurrect this, not because it needs it, but because I want to share another instance that I used it on the other day that's only mentioned a couple of times in here: the final battle in Overlord. Take down the connection, then nuke the core. 15 second boss battle. I like it.
