Neither bothered me in the slightest. Loading times are greatly improved from Origins.

While I don't care about the loading screen.. Really?  How could anyone not be annoyed with the recycled areas.  At least they could have been clever with it.  The didn't even adjust the maps.  I'm not a DA2 hater (it was quite a bit better then Origins imo), but the recycled areas was BS.

I'm sorry, I was too busy having fun.

Maybe if I fancied myself a video game reviewer, I'd feel obligated to take it into account and yeah, it might lose the game a point or so. But I'm not a video game reviewer and when I was playing the game, the recycled maps simply did not detract from my personal enjoyment. Until someone pointed it out to me, I didn't even notice.

Oh, I was having fun too. The game is really fun, but the reused maps were annoying. I'm a player that is about getting things done and I don't really pay too much attention to the surroundings. So me noticing it is bad. ;)

I could have lived with it a bit if they redecorated it a bit and changed the maps. Maybe even go with 2-3 reused (and redecorated) per "area" instead of 1.

Both bothered me, though recycled areas more. Which I wouldn't have minded as much if Kirkwall felt like a live city and if it changed across the years. Of course it did neither.

What's with the question everytime i entered a 'new' area asking myself "Huh,have i not been here before?" or "Huh, did i do this quest before?".

With some simple readjusting some walls, crates, stairs etc they could have made areas look different where they now are visibly re-used. Looks rather cheap and it's a little boring, taking away some of the gameplay's joy.
Anyway, i started playing DAO again for the storyline in DAO is so much better.

Yeah, they should have based the game on Memento. So even though you knew you were going to the same area again, Hawke wouldn't.  That said I do hope all future Bioware games have at least one strategically-placed oxcart as homage to DAII.

Indeed. For example, I didn't even notice that the Blooming Rose and Fenris' mansion were the same building until halfway through my second time through the game.

This is an odd question.

"What do you like more, food or being slapped?"

I've gotten slapped in ways I liked.

I didn't mind the load screens because they were only two seconds long. In Origins they were sometimes a minute long. Recycled areas were lazy but didn't bother me that much.

Since I don't think they have ever given a reason then we just have to speculate.  And it is too bad that aspect of the game (level/area design) has taken such a hit because some of the areas they have made are really visually appealing such as some areas of Kirkwall and the outdoor areas, especially the wounded coast.

The problem of re-used maps is made worse by the gameplay itself though.  With 3 Acts and night/day maps, you basically have to go through every area of Kirkwall in detail at least 6 times - though, non-completionists could avoid that I suppose.  That's not counting back and forth for quests.  So, lowtown, hightown, dark town, hanged man...  rinse and repeat.

The Bone Pit you have to go to at least 3 times, but then some quests you can't get all at the same time so there's a few more trips.  I found in my 3rd or 4th play that if you go back a few more times the guy at the mine gives you an extra quest or two making me wonder what else I missed.

The Wounded Coast was my favorite area (especially since outdoor areas have less camera craziness) and looked beautiful.

I liked a lot of things about the game.  I like the simplified combat and inventory etc.  But I didn't love any of the changes so much that they offset how I felt about seeing each area 10 times per act and each building 15 times per act.  (Numbers are made up - might be better or worse than reality :)

I am a software developer myself and I get that there are always trade offs in where effort can be spent, I just wish it didn't seem like the trade off was more of my money for less of their work.

The area that annoyed me the most was the loading maps / areas / etc. I understand that's how BW games often work but it doesn't mean that I don't get sick of it.

You know when i posted this I didnt know people would responded to it.. I like the game and all but anytime someone play a game and its a sequel, they expect to see new areas not the same over and over. I cant tell you how many times Ive seen Fernis house recyled or a dungeon. Even when your Hawk lived in Lowtown that house was recycled in Shepherding Wolves.

Without a doubt the recycled areas.

"But this place is different, see? The doorway is cemented off here, while it wasn't in the other area!"

Seriously?

Loading? Not an issue - however, they clearly need to have more unique environments and areas.

Recycled areas. I hate that stupid cave. I hate that stupid house. I don.t understand why anyone would leave dead bodies lying around to rot for years....yeah the recycled areas and guys who don't decorate!

Neither really. I've played too many MMO's to be bothered by repeated maps and 'loading areas' is a fact of life nowadays.

However, one teeny thing Mr or Ms Bioware, if you're going to reuse a map that purports to be a different place, please do remove the items that relate specifically to the last quest done in that map. It is ever so slightly distracting to think "oh look there's things I need to...no wait, they're not" as you're doing a completely different quest.

Thank you.

At least the dead bodies were gone I suppose.

I guess the recycled areas got a bit annoying after a while but truthfully neither of them really bothered me that much.
