I'm tempted to photoshop that into reality. Realistically... why would they want dino DNA? Unless...

There's actually an episode of Star Trek: Voyager in which the crew happens upon the space-worthy descendants of a species of hadrosaurs from the Cretaceous period. While the mystery elements leading up to this revelation are surprisingly decently-written, the payoff itself is so goofy it makes my eyes roll just thinking back to it.

Actually there are signs that the reapers have targetted bronze age civilations as well as the more advanced.

Which makes it all the more confusing that they didn't touch humanity when they culled the protheans.

Also no, reapers did not kill the dinosaurs. Protheans were still in their prime when the dinosaurs went extinct.

If memory serves, almost everything about Voyager was goofy enough to make eyes roll.

What evidence is there that the Reapers targetted any species incabable of making it to the citadel?
Also no, the dinosaurs lived and died millions of years before the Protheans got their day in the limelight.

Prothean extinction=50000 years ago.
Dinosaur extinction=65000000 years ago.
A good few cycles since then.

AND I'm sure this topic came up a few days ago before being dismissed as dumb. Read the lore, the Reapers only target relay travelling speices. I remember the picture above featuring in the old topic.

There are planets that have been bombed into by orbital bombardments. But it's ambiguous whether it was the reapers or just a bunch of **** aliens.

Ah you got me about the dinosaurs. Sometimes I forget how long the dinosaurs ruled.

In any case the evidence is in the planetary descriptions. There was a bronze age level civilization that was described as being bombed from orbit in a similar vein to other reaper like cullings on other planets. I'll have to hunt the link. If memory serves me better than my dinosaur info, they also did this to industrial and "modern" aged civilizations.

Looks like you failed your History class. 50000 years ago we were barely able to make pointed sticks, let alone bronze. The Bronze Age was approx 3000-500 BC. Before then was teh Neolithic period. I doubt the Reapers would have seen any species who had only just mastered the word "Ook" as a potential therat.

My understanding is that the Reapers don't bomb from orbit, but rather decend on the planet and reap. If my memory serves me correctly, that planet existed in a system or near a system inhabited (for a short time at least) by another alien race which liked bombing from orbit.

The dinosaurs weren't wiped out by the Reapers, they are the Reapers. That will be the big twist in ME3.

Ah but pretty much every planet that involves a species being wiped from existance has the description of being bombed from orbit. Now from what little we have seen from the reapers so far, when one takes off from a planet they leave a pretty big crater.

So armed with that knowledge, the observations of an extinct species being bombed = reaped. Species being bombed out of existance is just waaay to common to be a coincidence in the ME universe, especially knowing about the reapers.

My bet is that something else is going on with those planets.Something not connected to the reapers but possibly to the deux ex machina that'll enable us to beat them.

There are no prothean planets bombed.

The ME universe is the same as ours up until the future. The reapers don't take all the tech otherwise there would be no beacons, no ruins, no random pyramids with prothean disks on top, no anything.
One thing they didn't leave was fossils.

Also we know, from the capacity of their brain cavities, that no dinosaur was smart enough to build anything other than nests, let alone spaceships.

Mass Effect follows real life history and the future is made up by Bioware.
