Someone please tell me I don't need to install a mod to be able to run this game at 1920x1080...

I bought it during the Steam sale this weekend and I was so excited to play the game, but when I launch it the dropdown menu only goes up to 1280x800.

Half of my freaking display is letterboxed on the sides, top and bottom.

If I do need a mod, please tell me where to find it.

First, if 1280x800 is on that list, it sounds like you need to switch it to 16:9 instead of 16:10.

Make sure you aren't missing the scroll arrows. The interface does a great job of hiding them, but they should be there.
If they really aren't, try using the config utility. Steam doesn't give you a shortcut to it but you can find it in the install folder (underneath the Steam folder) in Binaries.
If the config doesn't do it either, worst case, you can edit a file (BioEngine.ini, I think) directly.

Go to your Steam install folder, then go to "steamapps\\common\\mass effect\\Binaries" and run "MassEffectConfig.exe". You should be able to select whatever resolution your monitor/graphics card combo can run. Just make sure you select the right Aspect Ratio.

Thanks so much, yes there was another scroll arrow for the resolution drop down menu that seemed to be part of a different panel.
