Wrex?
"I asked point blank about Wrex and got as close to a 'no' as I think Bioware will come at this early stage: exceutive producer Casey Hudson simply re-emphasised that such characters canplay a role and fight alongside you without necessarily being permanent squad members

Since i couldn´t save Wrex in my imported fiel in ME2 and the HIGH posibility of Wrex being in ME3
i wanted him so badly as a squadmate (also wanted to romace Liara instead of Ashley and make some different decissons)  in ME3.
i restarted  RIGHT at the beggining of ME1 started as a Vanguard i putted as many intimidate points (i´m a renegade guy) as i could,Finally save Wrex, romance Liara, and finally finishing ME1 import into ME2 andd sattifyingly finishing ME2
hoping for to have Wrex kicking ass in ME3 graphics.
So after burning 65 hours of my life this is the response that Bioware gives me.

Wrex is a temporary squadmate for a particular part of the game.

By the way, what do renegade points have to do with romancing Liara?  And if you get Wrex's armor he can live with zero paragon/renegade points.  I had played ME1 several times and never even knew he could die until I came to these forums.

Well, I think that this implies Wrex may at least get a Temp Squad appearance, and possibly will affect how willing the Krogan are to aid you.

So you didn't do it for nothing.

Boohoo. he's going to be a temporary squadmate. Consider yourself lucky though, since the squad will be smaller this time, so a few characters will only be cameos, though who these are have yet to be revealed.

So, Wrex being a temp squaddie means Wreav will be one too?

I expect a LOTSB-Liara-type cameo, but nothing beyond that. I think him leading the krogan is far better in the long run.

I'm guessing a lot of poeple will be displeased for who does and doesnt appear as a permanent squaddie in ME3,shorter list, couple of new characters, kaidan or ash confirmed and some others...

So chances are in that aspect the game is going to ****** a lotta people off because with so many charachters it's impossible to satisfy everyone...at least he will be playable...not like many others that will get the cameo only treatment...but in the end I guess it will be for the best of the series...

Wrex isn't a squadmember? this day is getting better and better, wrex being a full time squadmember would be terrible storywise, he's the leader of the krogan, they will be looking up for him to lead them, it would make no sense for Wrex to just abandon them so he can hang out on with shepard on the normandy

How do you like Wrex so much and not know about his sidequest?

I highly doubt it took you that long if you were complaining about spending points on charm/intimidate. Unless you spent like 55 of those hours in ME2. And if you felt like it was wasted why did you play it that long? You don't even know his role so stop assuming he is going to be the new VS in ME3.

*shrug* Wrex might be important in leading the krogans to help you. I liked Wrex quite a bit too, but if he's even just a temporary squad member of some sort, I'll find that enjoyable enough.

Wrex has more important roles to play.

He's kind of busy uniting the Krogan. Him being a temporary squadmate will work well.

I don't even want Wrex as a squadmate. Don't get me wrong, he's a great character. I would just rather have Grunt by my side in skirmishes with Cerberus while Wrex leads Krogan armies into battle against the Reapers.

the simple fact is that wrex could die in me1, so his role has to be necessarily limited. shame because he is an awesome character, but there it is.

I guess that's the reward for keeping him alive, having him temporarily in ME3.

I think this ancient rationale has pretty much been discarded in light of the revelations we've got about the squadmates in ME3. Squadmate status in ME3 will depend primarily on the story Bioware want to tell, and only secondarily on whether or not someone could die. If that were the primary guideline, the only returning squaddie we would have is Liara and this is patently not the case, so...

Wrex has very good plot reasons to only have a limited role in Shepard's squad.

Wrex is a busy guy, we don't always get to frag with our old friends forever. :)
